You can start a negotiating by saying you want to stay - 'we really love the CL and would love to continue taking part but UEFA are making it impossible with their inflexibility etc. etc.' so that the other side can see you do actually want to negotiate. Instead we seem to have adopted the scorched earth tactic such that, whatever happens, someone will be seen to have won, and someone to have lost.It just seem like a negotiation, there is likely to be a hybrid compromise between the ESL and the new UCL.
You don't start a negotiation by saying you want to stay.
The other version is the ESL expanding to take in any up and coming club expanding like the PDC did and drain the life blood out of all else.
