If that’s true and has been leaked by both clubs it could be the first stage of their backtrack.. hopefully
Nah. It’s more like the scene in the shawshank redemption where the protagonist is talking about the sisters and how they used to try and rape him.....only city were too weak to fend off even the first advance.

The club was here before the owners and staff and it’ll still be here long after they’ve gone. They’ve done amazing things for us but that gives them now fucking divine right to move us into this super league purely so they can reap the rewards of the huge profits and because they don’t want to miss out on it.

It will never get that far.

The Premier league will have a meeting with Sky and BT for the next TV rights deal that starts in 2021 and they will say "We are replacing City, United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool with Norwich, Watford, Swansea, Brentford, Barnsley and Bournemouth, how many billions can we get per year?"

And sky will say, that sounds like the championship, in fact about 3/4s of the "new Premier league" have been in the championship under the current rights deal. and we pay £120m per year for the championship so it will be in that ball park."

And then the clubs will say, "gee that's a lot less than £3Bn a year isn't it? I'll go bankrupt if that happens"

And then they'll vote to keep the big 6.
PL is watched across the globe. Not everyone is fan of top 6 (I should say founding six as not all are in top 6) and if PL can live for a year or two without them the fans will watch more so outside UK.

What will the founding six do meanwhile - play 6 times between each other. Everyone will get tired of watching arsenal vs rags with no relevance to topping SL as that is the EU league already and coming bottom will also mean nothing as there is no relegation. SL will die on its own when players leave.

Just watching the dippers vs Leeds.
Do I cheer for the old guard or our brothers in arms?
Ffs I feel sick at the thought.

Yeah you could be right about it being done.

Still I think the Yank owners are operating under North American sports thinking which is basically "who cares what the fans think". I've seen it all my life from the NFL, MLB and NHL. What I've learned about European Football following the PL these last 10 years is that the fans in footy have a lot more power and influence than what the owners are used to dealing with over here on this side of the pond.

Hopefully everyone stays vocal and firm and the whole miserable enterprise dies out this week.
Unfortunately, to stop this, it would require the people behind it or those benefitting the most to change course.

You'd need a wide scale player protest (why would they risk sacrificing their careers when they stand to be paid more?) or enough of the 12 to back out. That's including PSG and Bayern who I'm assuming are in this thing in everything but name only. The Italian, Spanish, and red English clubs benefit way too much from this to back out. Even if City and Chelsea have a change of heart (highly fucking unlikely, I think despite the reports they support this much more than they're letting on) is that enough? I don't think so.

Spending isn't a concern if they are adapting a model like NFL, the restrictions will be enough to still allow for a fairly big budget each year for all clubs involved. It's the only reason City would have considered it.

Also, lots still has to play out, we have to remind ourselves. It's not so black and white as to whether this plan actually goes through.

Which is the bottom line. Trouble is, we still see it as our club and you can bet your bottom dollar, they don't.

Mark my words, City will be taken for a ride by these Yanks!

If City joined this at the 11th hour it makes it ten times more worrying. There’s absolutely no way on Earth we know the all the ins-and-outs of this... I can see nothing but being fucked in the arse and cast aside!
I’m sure we have lawyers that looked over it

Nah the board members of the super league won't let this happen........hang on.

Why would they have asked us to join just to fuck us over? Surely they would have just not invited us?

Is it too late for the club to say..."Given the overwhelming response from our fanbase, we have decided to decline our invitation"

Wishful thinking but I'd take it. Do it now City.

And to see an interview with our chairman, on all major networks, condemning this filthy proposal. I always had such a huge respect for both him and our owners humanity and decency.
Pretty much vaporized with this.
