There is a lot of hypocrisy going on over this.

Liverpool protesting, why were they not protesting when they qualified for the CL by the back door and won it. That was the start of devaluing the competition for me, when champions and others qualified.

If anyone is too feel aggrieved its Forest and Villa, they have won the EC, we havent, Spurs, Arsenal havent.

Where was the fans moaning about the setting up of the PL. I dont recall mass protests about that.

And City fans, where were the mass protests against Thaksin...the lack of protest then lead to the Sheikh

The vast majority of rag cunts were happy with the yanks as long they were winning.

Gary Neville said fuck all as long as United were winning

Where were the Chelsea protests against Abramovich

How come that **** Johnson is suddenly interested in football fans, especially after the shit he wrote about Hillsborough

When have the tories been against capitalist exploitation.
Simply because the ESL will be a closed shop for clubs and goes against the ethos of how sport is played. None of the above you have mentioned was or is.

I wouldn't be shocked to see a walk back from City next couple days, much as I thought it impossible.

Uefa were speaking to us yesterday and it sounds like we may have been offered something to break away from the breakaway.

Football politics, eh?

Also, keep an eye on Infantino. We are much more closely aligned to him and even discussed a Super League of sorts with him which would have seen Soft Bank put up the funds, a firm Abu Dhabi has a big stake in.

Why do you want to qualify for Super League? It’s not part of the football pyramid. It’s a separate thing. The CL which is the pinnacle of football still exists. Nobody complains that the fucking Audi cup is a closed shop. City have the right to play who ever they want in friendlies don’t they? Well consider this something like that. The structure of CL, the domestic leagues, nothing changes. Why do other clubs want to be a part of Super League?!

So you're ok with City playing high profile friendlies over the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and potentially the Premier League?

This has to be a wind up.

Two scenarios. We stay in it, and one thing that'll happen is that the ESL replaces the domestic cup competitions. It'll take 23 games to win the ESL (and that's just on current plans) as opposed to the 13 needed to win the CL. So there's no chance that the teams in the ESL can play in the FA or League Cups.

The other is that it becomes meaningless. Think about how we were all gutted when Spurs beat us to ensure they, and not us, got top 4. Think about how excited/nervous West Ham or Leicester fans must be right now. All that goes out of the window and the PL becomes an irrelevance. Those games are the ones you've got to endure rather than enjoy, because bar a few games, they mean fuck all.

The other scenario however, and probably the more likely one, is that we can't play in both the PL & ESL.
It’s not 13 though is it. You’ve completely ignored the new Swiss model approved by UEFA yesterday which increases the games by quite a bit. We can absolutely still play in domestic cups in ESL.

I don’t get the top 4 argument. The CL still exists. Now Burnley will be gutted that West Ham have made the CL spots. The big 6 is out of the equation, nobody cares. It might be less exciting for us, but for the other 14, it’s massively more exciting. They now actually have a chance at qualifying for CL - almost a certainty instead of just a dream. This is hands down better for the rest of the league.

Is the damage done though? Will fans forgive the club for being part of this in the first place?

I don't know.

PS - Apologies for the personal insults yesterday. I'm deeply upset by this development and when upset people tend to react with anger.

Is your comment a wind up? Participation in ESL has nothing to do with the domestic cups and the league. If it came to that, I’ll be against ESL but I don’t see that happening. Just seems like a lot of posturing by the powers that be. I’m okay with league + domestic cups + ESL over league + no domestic cups because of Swiss model + UCL.

Surely you understand the point that both the ESL and CL would be severely devalued as competitions. And the PL ruined beyond recognition.

Do you buy fake Gucci watches and go around telling people that you're wearing real ones?

Unbelievable.

The ESL is midweek so domestic cups are out, as you've been told already.

The League is literally threatening to kick us out, so your assumption is baseless and dangerous.

We've just reached the semi finals of the CL and turkeys like you are voting for Christmas, it beggars belief.

And the Swiss model destroys the League Cup, because that's a minimum of 4 (or 6 if you're in one of the play-offs) extra games. The ESL is a minimum of 8 more. How the fuck are you going to fit those in? Talk sense FFS.

The reason there are 6 English teams in it, what must the divisions elsewhere in Europe be thinking like Holland, France, Portugal etc? They don’t matter and clubs that have competed in Europe for decades can’t compete against the best. If you were Everton’s owner would you even bother building a stadium now?
Ultimately I think it’s doomed
The reaction in the uk is horrendous and that’s half the leagues teams
Spanish and Italian clubs don’t care but be interested in the fans views. I imagine Real Madrid fans just want to win.

But then the ‘new’ champs league basically becomes second rate... a europa league if you like ... hang on, dont we already have that?
But it won’t. ESL is a closed shop like you said. It’s not part of the football pyramid. Europa league is a 2nd rate UCL because both are directly linked. Clubs drops from UCL to Europa and direct qualify for UCL if they win Europa. It’s a ladder. ESL is a separate thing. It has nothing to do CL. Half the clubs in the ESL are dogshit. It’s not a competition for best performing teams on the pitch that season.

Got everything crossed mate
