To be expected he dislikes us, we dislike him. Suspect Micah enjoyed the payback.
To be clear though he is a scouser ergo he is a complete and shameless twat

According to social media there is speculation about a relationship with someone at the club? Some pictures from the cup final?
There is a short clip of one of our staff, poss medical team, blonde and good looking reaching to touch his arm,he nervously pulls away and looks up at the screens to see if it was picked up,...could be anything but looked a bit strange.

A bit late into this thread but:
PSG have clearly got very fine attacking players a good away record and we underestimate them at our peril.
But to put the Barca result into perspective Barca are a currently a team who are determined to get our 5th best centre back because they think he will improve their defense.

we must not underestimate PSG in the 2nd leg and the tie is very much still alive and kicking
pep will be saying its still 0.0 and the hard work is still to be done in finishing the job off

but lets hope the pitch is in better condition than its as been of late. because we will use all of it to test PSG fitness again. if like in the first leg they didn't like chasing the ball and the city players around for to long. its sounds funny but the pitch at the etihad could be the key. if its wet and zipping around then we play our normal game ? but if it cuts up and players slip all over place then all it takes is a mistake

the tie is very much like the dortmund game and the first goal can control the game. if city score first its still the same plan for PSG they need 2 goals, if PSG score first its still up to city to control and not really panic

ALL WE NEED IS TO BELEIVE WE ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO BE ON THIS STAGE

I get what you are saying and it's really semantics from what my opinion is.

I think the whole world knows Pep lives and breathes football. He thinks about everything and studies every detail. I don't think there's a team out there he wouldn't be preparing for in the same way. But equally, we don't know what results could have been had we played different formations/styles so it's hard to know just how wrong he has got things. As he always says, when it comes off he's a genius and when it doesn't he's criticised. That's his job.

You look at the Liverpool game and there were definitely issues, but we should have had a pen. And Sane wrongly had a goal disallowed in the first half that could have made it 2-0. With the penalty given and scored (pushing it!) we'd have been going through. The Spurs games he didn't do anything wrong. We wanted to push for a goal in the first leg, De Bruyne was held back, but we were in an almighty battle for the league. And Llorente's goal would have been disallowed for handball this year.

He also made changes for our game in Madrid which we won, but the subsequent changes he made for Lyon were obviously criticised. The lineup was shocking and most of us felt we were out at that point. But we got back into the game and created plenty of chances to score and win it. Individual errors/misses were more to blame than Pep's formation and tactics.

But I think you are right overall. He seems more confident in the side now. He has established a real balance to our team and is trusting on the usual tactics, formation and players to get the job done in Europe. There was a definite reluctance to overcommit in the first half. Whether that was Pep or the players I'm not sure, but I'd guess it was Pep. We reverted to our usual game in the second and were top class.
I've no idea if it was by instruction, or if it was the players, but after the first ten minutes PSG had the momentum & took the lead.

As a sign of how far we've come, normally I'd be looking to end it all, but last night I knew they had as much to worry about as we did, & all I was hoping for was to get in at 1-0, or for us to sneak an equaliser. We just needed to press the reset button, remember what we were capable of & give PSG something to think about.

As I said earlier, as soon as the second half kicked off, Silva closed in on Mahrez to offer a passing option, & Walker went racing past on the overlap leaving Bakker looking left & right & not really knowing who to pick up.

At this point it's like we remembered how we play, & PSG had very few answers, or questions of their own to ask. It's not over yet by any stretch of the imagination, & PSG are a fearsome prospect, but so are we. Like I said, they've as much to worry about as we have, so as long as we continue where we left off, with a dash of luck hopefully we'll prevail.

Regardless, it was a match worthy of a Champions League Semi Final. I'm just relieved it went our way with the home leg still to come.

You can't score if you don't have the ball
True. But unfortunately for much of the time we can't score with it either.

Don't get me wrong, I think we are a superb side. Clearly we are.

But we are not "perfect" - no-one is. And we are definitely IMO short on goal-threat. Actually that's not true. The threat is there, it's the doing something about it which is often lacking.

That'll be those lovable dippers again. It wasn't that long away they were trying to start rumours that something was going on between Pep and the Club photographer

It may have been fluky but you need a dose of good luck at times to win a cup competition. It isn't always the best team that wins (not that I think we weren't the better team or that we didn't deserve to win) - just look at the list of CL winners over the last few years. I just have a feeling, a hope, that this year lady luck may be smiling on us and if we marry it with two more decent performances then we can win this.
I really do hope so. Fingers crossed you are right and you may very well be.

Very unprofessional of him.

But to be fair, if it was us watching Liverpool playing PSG in such circumstances, I would think there was something wrong with you if you didn't cheer when PSG scored.

From the Guardian. My thoughts exactly.

"In so many key games, the release of Guardiola’s lineup leads to discussion, conjecture. Not here. His lineup was as expected; no tricks, no over-thinking."
I think Pep really does ENJOY football. In a way that is rarely seen in managers today. I've been watching again (on YouTube) our "big" games and celebrations over the last 3/4 years.
Pep really "gets" it. Almost like a home grown fan.
Love him to bits ;-)

Paredes like a punk went out of his way to walk over Foden who was sitting on the ground after foul immediately before Mahrez free kick... Asshole was given a yellow and then he was the dope that separated from the wall on the goal...instant karma...

agreed,we do need that 3rd goal and it will put them to bed, we get that first its over they score and its game on,as pep said in the interview it not over yet
It will help, but it won't change much from their perspective - from the start, they will need to score two to avoid going out of the comp regardless.

To get some perspective here, PSG at home is not that good as its latest results at home were:
PSG-Monaco 0-2
PSG-Barcelona 1-1
PSG-Nantes 1-2
PSG-Lille 3-0 (CUP game)
PSG-Lille 0-1
PSG-Bayern 0-1
PSG-St Etienne 3-2
PSG-Angers 5-0
PSG-ManCity 1-2

On the other hand away matches were SPECTACULAR:
Marseille-PSG 0-2
Barcelona-PSG 1-4
Dijon-PSG 0-4
Bordeaux-PSG 0-1
Brest-PSG 0-3
Lyon-PSG 2-4
Bayern-PSG 2-3
Strasbourg-PSG 1-4
Metz-PSG 1-2

So PSG
•at HOME: 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses
•AWAY: 9 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses !!!!

So nothing is over at all, not even remotely close to that.
For some reason PSG is amazing in away games and we have to be very very very careful.
Something missing from those away results though..
