As an Englishman with an Irish mother and a Scottish wife, I'm going to be devastated to lose Scotland and break up the UK but it's been inevitable for some time now. I would want the same if I was Scottish. I want nothing to do with these Vote Leave zealots who have seized control of England via the populist back door.

Going rabid right wing is always laced with hate, always emboldens angry thick cunts to forgo the pub to defend statues of people they haven't a fucking clue who they are. To carp on about a history they know fuck all about and to decide who is English, ie, white skin. After Brexit, like America with Trump, the lid of the cesspool these cunts dwell, was opened for political reasons and the increase in hate took to the skies. I don't like that and don't want a country that panders to thick gammons, filled to the brim with red faced loathing. I watched a video clip of one such person, who was wanting us to get our Empire back. He was obviously working class and it made me shake my head, as this thick moronic **** obviously didn't know that under the Empire, at our richest, his ancestors, all white, all patriotic, lived in abject poverty and squalor. We never saw a farthing of the vast fortunes working class soldiers enabled to be plundered by doing all the fighting. Take a look at any old 19th Century photos of working class life and see the destitution and hardship etched on faces who lived in the richest country in the world. He was that fucking stupid, he probably felt his ancestors had a great life. The Toffs kept all the cash our class won at the point of a gun. They paid us starvation wages, allowed us to live in slums, made our children work, provided no health care, minimal education and no opportunity for social mobility. That was the Empire. Plunder, invade, steal, and keep it all. Yes, those were the days. But, that's what we are up against. Time to say cheerio.

oh come on magicpole stop whining. Your giving the scots a bad name. You dont actually get shafted do you!! Try living in northern England. Then you would really have something to moan about.
 
Would be really sad to see Scotland leave the union but wouldn't blame them for one second if they chose to do so.
Might have to marry my Glaswegian missus to get myself a passport just in case..

What I do moan about however, is not voting for Brexit, and getting it anyway. As something of that constitutional magnitude should absolutely have been on an all nations are equal basis, and not the sum of the biggest mass. Not just for Scotland btw, N.I too.

And whatever technicalities or definitions of sovereignty you choose to justify it, won't change how I feel about it.

The fact that it didn't happen, when requested by the elected leaders of more than one nation, pissed all over the concept of the Union for me.

Can you not see the irony of using the Brexit argument to break away from your closest friends and by far your biggest trading partner. It will be sad day if it happens.

You miss the point. By not moaning and saying enough is enough, you play into the hands of those who make it shit. I know you have issues there, what I can't see is what the fuck you are doing about it, apart from stating it's shite.

It reminds me of an old Muppet show sketch. An old recheck is sitting barefoot in dungarees swaying on a rocking chair, on the porch is a dog lying and howling.

See that dog down there, he's sitting on a nail, but he's so darned lazy, he won't move over.

Accept shite and you get shite. Stand up and fight and lthough you may not win, but at least you fought. Things don't change until people make it happen. And we do get shafted. We live in a place Eton Toffs run. If that isn't getting shafted I don't know what is Remember the dog on the nail. We have all been that dog. Let's stop.

You were told and told and told this would be a consequence, and Ireland too, but you didn't care.

I don't see the irony because that is not what I'm doing.

May be a sad day, but that bed has been made when brexit was voted for, with the knowledge it would in some way lead to an end of the union.
 
I sometimes wonder if there is simply a resigned acceptance now among Westminster politicians, particularly Conservatives, that Scotland is going to become Independent, so there is little point in changing the situation. I listened to Brown this morning repeat his 2014 pleas, yet nothing has been done to improve the relationship since then, despite the pledges, and indeed Brexit has only exacerbated matters. 'Two roads diverged in a wood...'
