Partridge

The English, especially BBC radio, have long specialised in unfunny comedy.
Professor Jimmy Edwards, Harry Worth, Terry and June, Sid James, Lenny Henry, Jimmy Clitheroe, and the greatest of them all Peter Brough, a ventrilloquism act on radio ffs.
Feel free to add your own comedy bete noire.
Sid James was good. Granted not belly laugh good but good. The others I agree with.

Jimmy Clitheroe was brilliant.

He provided his own belly laughs, presumably because the audience didn't.
He had a reputation as a prolific shagger. Barbara Windsor once said that she succumbed in the end because his persistence was driving her to distraction.

If you say so! I met him once in a pub in Poulton le Fylde. A weird experience talking to a middle aged guy whose voice l identified with a 13 year old schoolboy
Funnily enough his dad was over 6'. I think he had a thyroid problem.

And I never realised that his actual surname was Clitheroe & he was also born there.

Remember him living near the Squirrel pub on Bispham Road in the 60s, used to walk past his house hoping to see him, never dawned on me at the time that there was little chance of this happening

Just watched last night's episode, and it was superb. Back to its best after a couple a average episodes.

On the contrary I thought last night’s was dreadful.
Partridge was clearly doing a Tony Hancock and reading everything off idiot boards but he was doing it when he was supposed to be off script too.

There's a savage review in the Spectator (and I kind of agree with most of it) but then again they might be just having a go at Labour supporting Coogan. Dunno.

This is a parody of Partidge and I miss 'I'm Alan Partridge'. Even the film version (which is yet another incarnation of the character) was enjoyable.

I actually find the Tim Key elements the best bits...he's a geuninyl funny guy.

I have to say, I think he`s the worse "comedian" there has ever been imo.

I have never laughed or even though he was even mildly amusing.
All my mates are into Partridge and often quote him. I get on with them all with most others things we share, but I just don’t get it with them all liking Partridge. I find the character, his shows/stand ups utterly unfunny. Don’t even find it ironically funny.

You might just have a really poor sense of humour
