All this does make you wonder if we have landed Messi so Kane is an easier cheaper option given that.

Nahhhhhh

Foden Kane Messi front three. Nah i cant see it but that would be the best Summer ever

Rival fans tears would be crazy.

All very valid points, but Kane is the England captain going into a major European tournament, the circus that would involve, etc...

Desperate men do desperate things, and it could well be a last desperate attempt to force the issue in his favour this summer.

However, there was zero need for the leak to stress he only wants to remain in England. For me, that would be stupid because it loses him leverage to maximise his salary demands.

It smacks of a player who already knows the identity of club that will be picking up the phone to negotiate with his present employer very soon.

I would agree on the wanting to stay in
the PL part . If any of it is true obviously.

I don't agree with the avoiding a circus at the Euros part. It is so far away that it would die down, probably will within the first 24 hours anyway.

No noise from the City camp makes you wonder. We are always quick to shut down any rumours, did so recently with Mendes.

No noise from the Haaland camp is even worse. If he REALLY wants to play for this club, he should tell Raiola to get a move on and pick up the phone and call Txiki.

My guess is Pep wants the striker business done early and we aren't in for long sagas, especially with people like Watzke and Raiola. I would love for City to sign Kane, but my heart was set on Haaland, so I am hoping otherwise.

If we were to know we were getting messi in, I doubt there would be any rush to bring in kane this year, as a Haaland alternative. Be more comfortable waiting gor haaland all summer or even till next year, if messi was coming.

I wouldn't see it dying down, he's the England captain, front and centre. Every press conference would invariably turn around to how he is feeling, how it is impacting the squad and his form?

You don't hand away your negotiating position by stating you will only accept one scenario. That is an ultimatum and can only be delivered if you are already in possession of the facts.

If all this is untrue, then I'm sure Kane will have poured cold water on it by tomorrow.

I'm not so sure he will.

That can easily be changed by spreading around that they have received an inquiry from Italy or PSG for a lot of money etc, and he’s listening.

Fair enough. Many players go to international tournaments and face questions, in some ways, inevitable even if no leak came from him right up until after the tournament, as that speculation is always there. A whole range of standard 'im focused on the national team' responses really. But yes certainly unwanted attention.

Someone called it a 'come get me plea' earlier. Could well be that and not as advanced as it seems

It will be interesting for sure, his reaction, particularly if he doesn't deny it. Probably another 'focus on the last game of the season' shrug off.

Some of them are exactly that

There is that!

There was nothing about Kane we didn't already know, to suggest he would favour a move abroad?

The fact his camp may have leaked that he would only stay in England, however, suggests even they are working to a script of sorts?

Haaland has certainly allowed Mino to court the possibility he is open to a move to any top country, simply to leverage his own bargaining position.

I know City won't stand for that type of shit this summer.

And maybe that in itself is the detail that is the difference between pursuing haaland and playing the patience game, or going for harry kane who maybe is more clear about being keen.

To me, the timing of it still feels a bit like a speculative one on his part, than a 'it is more done than meets the eye' call, because i just feel it was the latter, there would be no rush at all. The fact it is premature before the season is ecen over nevee mind European competition (in which all 3 likely suitors are in) to me just feels like a 'lets get this out and see what happens' on his part. Just a feeling.

The timing that this also happens the day after Dortmund secures CL next season, which could mean Dortmund have decided not to sell Håland this summer unless a ridiculous offer comes in. I would rather have Håland, but from Citys point of view there is some issues that make Kane a bit more likely this summer:
- Dortmund are not willing to sell
- Is Håland really worth 150m? He is for sure a great striker, but Werner scored more goals in his last season in Bundesliga than Håland has done this year. Sure he has the potential to be the best, but if you are paying 150m you want the best, not someone that has the potential to be it.
- If Håland really wants to come, I am sure Pep would find a way to fit both him and Kane in next season when the 75m clause is active.
- Spurs might be willing to sell considering Kane wants out.
- Kane really wants to come here and is doing his part to make it happen.
- Kane is arguably more of a guarantee than Håland considering he is PL proven.
- Kane counts as a homegrown which could give us more flexibility in shaping the squad in the future (a player like Ake would not be as essential because of his homegrown status).

Like I said, if it was up to me I would rather sign Håland based on his potential, age and connection to City. But at this point I think its more likely that we will sign Kane. Everything points to it at the moment! But things can turn quickly =)

Kane has talked about leaving Spurs since March 2020. It is no suprise that he is using the media to send a message that he is available. Tottenham have failed to kick on since the new stadium. Covid is in part to blame. If and it’s a big if the price is right for us I can see it happening quickly. We will see a similar situation to the Dias Otamendi swap plus cash.

Haaland would be an amazing signing but he comes with problems. I don’t believe the leak from Kane is a coincidence. He is trying to force his way out. Levy is probably furious as it weakens his hand especially during these financially uncertain times.

Loans need repaid. He has an asset to sell. For all his goals they have won nothing. Top 4 seems a long way off at present.

Ake would be the most palatable, as we could again assure Laporte of plenty of games on the left side.

We would be very unlucky to lose both Stones and Dias at the same time to not have cover for both sides.

£70m plus Ake would be a steal.
Not sure about this. Stones is quite injury prone meaning we'd be just left with two CBs - depending on the stage of the season we could be pretty fucked. Dropping rodri or Fernandinho back just weakens our midfield

Have we learned nothing from being incessantly reminded of the scousers' issues this year?
