As i keep saying, where we are concerned, football should always be about progression/im[roveent,so,from that perspective, yes.

He would improve the first 11,as would Haaland and/or Kane.
With Kane coming in we have Foden, Sterling, KDB, Mahrez, Bernardo, Torres, all competing for 3 starting spots, so who misses out for Grealish to start?

You could have just jumped to that question and omitted the loaded one.....but,its cool.

Easy

---------Kane------
Grealish-Foden-Bernie
---KDB--Gundogan--

It’s a good job we only play 11 players in all 64 matches per season.

Out of interest, quite possibly me being thick, but why are they competing for 3 spots and not 4?

Surely, you have a CDM and a striker, then 4 to fill?

With Ferna staying we’re not going to be moving Gundo to 6. So numbers wise it’s very complicated for Pep already. False 9 has essentially allowed him to keep the myriad of attacking mids we have almost happy.

Provided we sign a 9 who will start most games then we go back to having not 1 but 2 senior players on the bench most games. If they want to do that and sign Grealish they’ll have to sell one of Bernardo Sterling or Mahrez, because none of them are going to accept less playing time than they’ve had this season.

For me I just don’t see that happening right now. I think the squad as it stands is better than anyone else’s in world football. You add a 9 and like Kane and it’s absolute jokes. I’m also reminded of that old Ferguson quote about the cow in the next field always being prettier than the cow in your field. I can rate Grealish, as can the club, and still not to sign him because it’s a position we’re already so stocked in.

Euro's , Copa America and African nations, long, long season, after an even longer one.

Next season is going to be very tough.

For sure. But that’s the same for everyone and our squad is already stronger than everyone else’s as this season showed. A 9 will give even more rest to the attacking players and certainly bench another one of them.

This conversation reminds me of the one around RVP when the squad carried Balo Tevez Kun and Dzeko.

Makes no difference though is everyon's fit we are stacked in that position. I agree with Billy It would be a big surprise to me if we bought Grealish without selling a Bernardo or Sterling and I wouldn't say getting Grealish over either makes us better, than we are and would be by just adding a Kane or Haaland.
What makes the squad better is adding a centre forwrd and a left back to rotate with Zinchenko not much else makes us better.

Although I think he could improve us, he does crowd the midfield choices even further. My concern would be whether the net impact justifies the outlay, as opposed to spending elsewhere.

However, if we’re planning to sell one of those midfielders, which would fund his acquisition at least in part, he’s potentially a good long term investment. I doubt that is the club’s intention though.

That is it. Spend loads of money, heck blow it all one one top striker, and the rest is all ok. If there is a buyer for Mendy, replace him with a LB, if not, strengthen with a no.9 and then rest can all happen next year. Rather that than simply reshuffling numbers of squad players, and getting a few decent players in.

Just heard from someone who told me the Delph deal was done a few years ago that the Grealish signing is almost done. There's some interesting news regarding Raz, will post again.
That Delph xfer ....I was just getting out of the car at Alty to play golf when the news broke it'd collapsed.

Left my phone in the car, when I got back he'd signed and I had a message from a mate who worked at Brother of all places telling me to put my house on it still happening as they were doing printing for the announcement.

A couple of red lights rather than green ones on the way over & I could have saved the money to go to Porto.

Maybe, but regards your last sentence, we all know how the following season ended.

In a nutshell my only reservation about signing Grealish, because I rate him highly as a player. Pep has mentioned on numerous occasions the difficulty in squad management this season and that’s with no Aguero for most of it. Add Kane into that and Pep’s going to be upsetting some top quality players as it is, signing Grealish as well seems unlikely to me for that reason.
