The result of that Northern Ireland data is THIS

Hospital data

20 Patients -it was 29 last week

And in Ventilators - ZERO - it was 1 last week.

Northern Ireland you can pretty clearly say has no real outbreak as of now.

And the reason is clearly the vaccinations that have massively cut the numbers catching this in any way that gets them near to seeking a test in big numbers - and the younger ones all catching it even without the same vaccine protection numbers in those ages - still not getting sick enough to create a hospital problem.

This is the near future the other UK home nations are edging towards.

Of course they have the Irish Sea that might have been a better prorection against the Indian Variant than the UK government travel policies appear to have been.

The truly annoying thing is that N Ireland is how the rest of us could now be had we not taken a very tardy and ineffective policy on people coming in and out from a country we knew long enough in advance was in trouble.

Anyone angry about any delay in opening up should look at why that is necessary if it proves to be.

As right now N Ireland is a very big advert saying 'look at what you could have won'.

Yep and not every one is lucky enough to live with someone, be in a relationship or still have their parents for support or live in a house with a nice garden.
I have neither yep the assumption with a lot of people is that they assume everyone has someone for support.
The BBC are the main culprits, virtually every news report contains a middle class family isolating comfortably in a lovely detached home and garden. Both parents working from home in some kind of profession with two adorable children and the ubiquitous lockdown dog.

I live on my own, in an apartment with no private outdoor space, in Salford. Don't really know anyone locally, my only real social interaction came in my local which obv closed, parents live not too far away but are pension age and i've been reluctant to visit them, was out of work for 6 months due to redundancy, then had a couple of jobs that were so poor they affected my mental health, and a 4 year relationship ended in February which also hit quite hard.

It's been a fairly crap 12 months really.

Edit: Just read ZERO UK deaths today.

Feel for you buddy. I’ve been struggling with my mental health since Christmas, been pissed around at work as well. I know sometimes I’ve felt like giving up in the past 15 months or so

We’re down to single figure deaths who have died ‘with’ Covid rather by Covid. That’s the same number of people who die in road accidents each day

Wonder why the 1 death there was in hospital today was discounted? It was not an old one. Happened on Sunday.

Good news though.

But Bank Holiday means all registry offices were shut for days remember.

Cases 3165 from 585, 399 pillar 1 & 2 tests

Unsurprisingly testing very low over past few days. Only 465 K 2 days ago.

The most was 654 K 3 days ago.

For comparison 7 days ago there 350 K more tests than today. For 672 fewer cases.

Possibly nothing to do with covid? Maybe now there are so few, the ones who died with it but it was not a contributing factor can get removed.

It would still get counted in the 28 day calculation. but not the death certificate calculation.

they cant just change the rules on a whim.

only way I can see this one happening is if there was a 2nd test that showed it wasn't actually covid in the 1st place.

I agree with this completely, and have had close family members severely and directly affected with a major impact on their lives.

Nevertheless, I think it's really important to also reflect the reality that there has not, thankfully, been an increase in people taking their own lives. Indeed, what evidence there is points to the opposite.

I think it's important to remove restrictions as fast as we can commensurate with not causing even more harm with a further, major wave.
Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.

Unfortuntely it really does look like Stockport is the next area going into trouble. Which given it has the best vaccination numbers in GM is a little concerning.

The good news first.

NOT ONE GM borough over 100 for the first time in 3 weeks.

BOROUGH CASES TODAY / DAY TO DAY / WEEK TO WEEK

BOLTON 98 / Down 58 / Down 19

BURY 42 / Down 7 / UP 28

MANCHESTER 97 / Down 68 / UP 42

OLDHAM 18 / Down 13 / Down 16

ROCHDALE 22 / Down 7 / Down 2

SALFORD 34 / Down 29 / UP 13

STOCKPORT 47 /UP 14 / UP 33

TAMESIDE 15 / Down 18 / UP 10

TRAFFORD 18 / Down 21 / UP 8

WIGAN 28 / Down 20 / Down 6

As you can see some pretty good numbers there day to day and week to week. For most boroughs.

But no question who had the worst of it. Stockport had a very bad day.

A bit of a puzzle as to why given its vaccine numbers.

May just be the up and down numbers caused by the change in methods that do not delete false positives day to day just on the overall total that will see some days artificually up and others artificially dowm and tomorrow it will be down when everywhere else is up.

But Zoe saw a big rise here too yesterday in their reported symptoms.
