agree but Covid times reduces the fee like Kane won’t go for 200m that was talked about a few years ago and now 150m won’t happen more like 120m
I think the impact is often overstated. It has changed what buyers are willing to/can pay, but it hasn’t affected the valuations of most selling clubs (see £60m for Nuno Mendes for instance or £80m for Hakimi), unless they are seriously strapped for cash (Torres for £30m).

Laporte has 3 years left on his contract so it’s not a buyers’ market. No way we should let him go for less than the rags paid for that fridge.

I do find it a bit strange that all the targets we seemingly have are English and PL based and all going to cost a fortune.

Kane, Grealish, Rice

Other leagues round the world are absolutely skint after Covid and would be desperate for the money.

If we really want HG then surely Trippier is the option as he’s club HG and would free up a squad space

the mendes talk by agent of 60m is total bullshit for a player who has come into the side this season and been ok stat why’s plus it’s the same agent who was saying city was buying Fernandes when in fact we wasn’t the club told the agent that many times! Bottom line the agent is a complete bellend!

When do we think the annual Tolmie bashing will take place? I reckon he has until 1st July before relationships are strained and we get 10 pages of people bashing him, followed by his annual "I post the information I get without jeopardising our respective positions, and do so in good faith". After a threat to leave the forum we then get the Tolmie fan club (I have the t-shirt) begging him to stay.

Isn't it exciting!

England v Romania tonight. Time to talk Grealish again.

Maybe you could start posting your inside information together with unfathomable musical clues and give @tolmie's hairdoo a break! England Romania or Countryfile tonight - not sure which will be the more exciting.

I think it's crazy that £60/£70m can get you Aymeric Laporte.
Slabhead £80m
De Ligt £70m
Lucas Hernandez £70m

All three wouldn't lace Laporte boots.

Really really hoping he is still with us next season. Fabulous player.

Really good point… if Maguire is worth £80m then even post pandemic someone has to bid north of that even to trigger a discussion… Laporte has a few years left on his contract so if we need to sell - cos he wants out - then fine but we should not be selling on the cheap.

Exactly. He only turned 27 last month, His best years will be his next 4/5 years too. No way should we be selling for £60/£70 million. The ball is in City's court here he is under contract. As I said if he stays next season then great we have one of the best centre backs in the world at our club.

So where is Barcelona going to get 60/70m from for Laporte or do they think they can get him on loan!

They are struggling to sign players on free contracts - given the pressure on their wage bill… not a chance they sign a player for circa £70m. The Spanish football press still think Franco is at the helm - propaganda at its worst - the clubs literally write the stories and tell the local sycophantic rag to publish it. I’d struggle to believe the date in a Spanish newspaper.

They have just asked an unpopular manager to defer some of his wages and renegotiate his basic salary because they can neither afford to pay him nor sack him. Same with most of their squad who won’t receive some of their salary until five years from now. They reneged on their original agreement with Garcia, a free transfer, and are struggling to agree extended/deferred terms with other free agents like Depay and Wijnaldum. God knows how they are paying Sergio. He also must have agreed to being paid at least partly in the future.
They aren’t paying a transfer fee for anybody this summer and there is nobody in their squad that I would swap for Laporte
Not even Sergio ;)

If Barca or Madrid want Laporte the minimum is £100 million, they will be getting a full Spanish international in his prime, nothing less, no swaps, cold hard cash, both them clubs have done their best to de rail us, no favours, fuck em over big time.
