ZOE DATA:

ANOTHER BIG JUMP UNFORTUNATELY

Estimated Cases up 740 in 24 hours from 8173 to 8913

Ongoing symptomatic infections up in 24 hours of 6766 from 83, 060 to 89, 826

These numbers are not showing any real sign of slowing down.

And NORTH WEST Is back up above Scotland as the worst region in the UK. And into the dark red zone with a top end POP score of 630. The most in the UK for months.

GM DATA ON ZOE

Bury falls slightly to 8584 from 8826. Well clear as highest.

Trafford slight drop to 5984 from 6090 - though Tameside is likely above it as it has shot up by 5000 in a day into the 16,000s but with not enough local data to guarantee accuracy so as always not being counted by Zoe).

Wigan rises big to 5892 from 3781

Manchester also rises again to 5814 from 5038.

Oldham up a bit to 4426 from 4278.

Rochdale falls to 3506 from 5052

Bolton back up to 3211 from 1946 yesterday.

Only the other two boroughs are actually down below Bolton' on Zoe now.

Stockport - moves up into the second tier at 2329 from 1990 yesterday.

Salford - bafflingly still given its big numbers in real cases only just in the lowest watch zone and even falls to 1305 from 1314.

If Zoe rates the above as the two best in GM and they had 224 cases between them yesterday then let us hope they stay 'low'.

The enquiry, whenever it comes, must address some of these issues and whether they actually made a difference or not. Some of the strictest lockdowns have had some of the highest death rates and some of their excess rates are off the scale, whilst some places that had much lighter interventions have fared somewhat better.
Do masks make a difference, what is the collateral cost, what was the effect on all the other health issues are a few of the questions that must be answered, because there will be something else in the next few years.

I do also wonder the thought processes sometimes when we know this is a disease that affects the chronically ill and unhealthy, that we’ve shut down gyms, outdoor sports facilities and swimming pools, whilst keeping McDonald‘s, KFC and the like open almost nonstop.

This obesity and ill health driven pandemic has been in the air for over 25 years and we’ve done nothing to address it, save for making donuts cheaper and vegetables more expensive.......
Masks have made a massive difference as has hand washing and sanitisation.
The biggest failure in the UK has been public access building ventilation (i.e. the lack of it: shops, flat entrances, work etc) and hospital infection control - the latter of which has been shocking for decades.

Other ZOE data

Preston on 8289 from 8256 is only just behind Bury as worst in NW.

West Lancahire up to 5318 versus 5126 and in the upper watch zones too.

For Andyhinch - too - Cheshire East joins the many NW watch zones in the higher tiers on 3097.

Though it is hard to find areas NOT in these in the NW now. Denbighshire in North Wales also now added at 1628.

Swansea also entered the lowest watch zone again in South Wales at 1581. This had almost nothing happening but like all the UK is gradually startin to see colours return to the map as the real life daily cases are unfortunately starting to show too.

For some reason amidst all of this Liverpool is staying immune.

Has not once been up in the watch zones when all around are and currently sits on very low numbers at just 402 - compared with 2408 across the water on the Wirral.

Maybe due to lack of a V A R iant. Sorry!

More of Yorkshire is turning red too - in the high 3000s upwards. So it does seem to have started to spread there. But not yet to the level in the NW.

Sunderland is up again too - now on 6001.

In Scotland Perth and Kinross has a fall to 5824 from 7213 but still the highest.

Edinburgh on 5378 not far behind.

Though much of the country is a shade of pink.

Further south in England

Luton falls slightly to 4896 from 5201 and is highest down south.

Southwark in London is rising on 4501

Bedford down a little at 4023 v 4223

However, the big surprise - explaining a spike in numbers there lately is Teignbridge in the South West.

A large swathe aound popular holiday spots such as Dawlish is now in higher watch zones and up slightly today to 3428 from 3339

Niacin (b3) could help with those who are still suffering with long covid..worth looking into..
As always, foodstuffs are always the best place to get vitamins and minerals.

Niece gave birth Friday, tested positive on Saturday,ICU today.......fuck me.
Yes my daughter,2 year old granddaughter 7 week old grandson , and her partner all positive my daughter has quite bad asthma so hoping her breathing doesn’t deteriorate

And ventilation in airports and on planes to and from India and Lisbon can't be great.

They have put her on a ventilator and said its just precaution and not to worry.
A ventilator,only precaution???

Scotland data:

0 deaths - was 0 last week

775 cases - was 526 last week

4.0% positivity - was 3.2% last week

Ventilation on aeroplanes is excellent, as well as the filters used being the same standard as operating theatres.
Rather you than me stuck in a metal box next to folk for 3 hours, mate ! Funny how many cases seem to be linked to flights and how cases spiked after all those foreign holidays last summer.

small shops/supermarkets- loads not bothering with masks anymore.
Not in the shops i go in mate. I remember last summer people saying that in shops they go in 50% didnt have a mask on, it was only ever odd people in shops i went in.

same now/ just had a week in devon , might have seen odd people without a mask. Same now im back home.
id say mask wearing is still 99%

Yes rather me than you I’m quite happy with that. But then I’ve never been one for hiding under my bed and unfortunately the government seem to be doing their best to destroy the airline industry so that I can’t make my own choice anyhow.

How many cases have been linked to flights out of interest? And by that I mean actual transmission rather than somone on a flight having tested positive which could have been picked up before or after any flight. Also, we currently have thousands of fans being told to self isolate due to having been ‘in proximity’ to someone who has tested positive yet almost everyone is still testing negative themselves. It’s an absolute farce.

I assume you’ll never get on a bus or train ever again if you’re that worried?! People have lost all sense of proportion it’s mad.
