If yer asked me about Ferny two seasons ago I would have said we need someone 'fresh', but the fresh young thing wouldn't have performed the way Ferny has these last two seasons.Why have they gone, surely there is a time and place for everything.There will be situations when an older player is preferable. I think if Laporte goes this is one, if an older player has less expectaions . It will depend on things we can't know one of which is how we expect academy players at different ages to progress. Delap may be another where we have high expectations ,so Kane is preffered to Haaland. We can't know.
