Sergio Ramos

Why have they gone, surely there is a time and place for everything. There will be situations when an older player is preferable. I think if Laporte goes this is one, if an older player has less expectaions . It will depend on things we can't know one of which is how we expect academy players at different ages to progress. Delap may be another where we have high expectations ,so Kane is preffered to Haaland. We can't know.
It's always a thin line, bp, where age is concerned. If yer asked me about Ferny two seasons ago I would have said we need someone 'fresh', but the fresh young thing wouldn't have performed the way Ferny has these last two seasons.

Nor I. Pure paper talk to fuel his renegotiation with Real Madrid.
That said, I'd pay good money to see him up against Wood and Barnes at Turf Moor on a bitterly cold night, though preferably not in our colours.
Yeah, FA Cup for me - Burnley v Fleetwood and a packed house to see Ramos turning out for Fleetwood.

I've not based my opinion on 1 game he was rushed back to play half-fit, but by watching La Liga most weekends over the season.

He's been really good when he's fit. When he was playing through injuries, he wasn't. I assume we'd not sign him unfit.
With a bit of luck, which City fans could do with just now, he might fail the medical!

The hell would the point of this be.

No more centre halves for a while thanks. We're good.

Ramos is an aging defender who may or may not bring benefit to our side should we sign him. He'd almost certain create controversy though - and I intensely dislike him to boot.

I don't think that we'll sign Ramos - and thank god that we won't!

How do you know he’s odious? Have you met him? Do you know someone who has?
Odious? - Aside from the fact that he's injured - intentionally - top opposition players in numerous competitions - Ramous is a fucking thug. He's obviously a skilled CB - but he's also a bully, willing to kick/maim/injure an opponent if he thinks he can get away with it.

I intensely dislike this style of football - injuring an opponent whenever possible - and that is the style of Ramous.

With any luck, Ramous will never, ever, be in our side.

Thank you for clarifying my point :).
The guy has no respect for other players, or the potential results of his thuggery.
That qualifies him as odious in my book

Jesus, you pair of tabloid-reading bozos. One of you can't even spell the player's name. If you hate tough-tackling players how about Fernandinho? Did you hate Nigel de Jong? What about Mike Doyle or Danny Tiatto? Pathetic.

City were added into the conversation as they always are to get clicks or to spike some interest. I cannot believe we were ever interested.

I think he could have a similar impact to Thiago Silva at Chelsea.

If we can sell Bernardo and Laporte to generate funds for a proper striker and sign him on a free I would be fine with that.
