sounds like grealish may indeed have that release clause in his contract?
When they're achieved.
Off topic of the original post but any truth to the Grealish stories now being thrown around? That's the issue, the more money loaded on the back end to finesse the cost keeps City waiting for an age, in a summer we could probably do with is straight away.
I recall Martial was headlined at £37m, but Monaco were still getting money four years later in tranches, after he made so many appearances.
Think his true cost was over £50m in the end.

I've been pretty clear for months that we are trying to sign him, it's no secret anymore.
His camp are doing all the talking, though, as you would expect.
It's not a release, I have heard it's more likely to be gentleman's agreement, sadly.
The rumour has been doing the rounds for a few months about possibly £70-80m release clause, which is certainly the price United were being quoted last summer.
The figure could well be higher now because it is us, but Grealish and his people seem pretty confident that when they signed a renewal last year, there was some sort of understanding in place if a Champions League club came forward again.
Yep agree he did nothing in the big games….oh didn’t he score a penalty against Dortmund at a crucial moment? a free kick against PSG? and again a goal at home against PSG?
He was our best winger last season and yes he was consistent hence why he played so many games.

I find it hard to believe that with the way agents treat new deals and potential suitors for players, they would ever rely on a gentlemans agreement. They are doing deals worth tens of millions for their client, i just find it hard to believe anything gets left to chance about the future. It's not a release, I have heard it's more likely to be gentleman's agreement, sadly.

like the apparent Kane gentlemans agreement?

Its just bizarre. You have two players in Kane and Grealish who could be moving this summer for close to a quarter of a billion combined. Both signed a new contract last summer and both are supposedly relying on gentlemans agreements to make those moves happen. Just bonkers they signed contracts without that written into them. For me what's more bizarre is that players continue to sign massive wage deals without release clauses. Surely if you're a guy with ambition to go to the top you'd knock £10k a week off your wages and have a clause in that means you could get the move?
Gentlemen's agreements and hard cash don't mix well.why they don’t get it in writing I don’t know I always thought it was 60m also
Exactly. They both signed contracts a year ago and are now relying on worthless gentlemans agreements. Just stupid from them both if true.Gentlemen's agreements and hard cash don't mix well.
Unless it's written in ink on his contract, it's worthless.
I would add greed, I would imagine if it was placed in the contract it would cost the player money, in terms of a wage/loyalty bonus reduction.Exactly. They both signed contracts a year ago and are now relying on worthless gentlemans agreements. Just stupid from them both if true.
fair do’s City that is certainly splashing the cast 100m Grealish 120m Kane two players who will improve us so all good!
