Had our yearly golf trip last week, 6 rounds in 4 days in North Devon - played Royal North Devon and then 2 days of 36 per day at Saunton, then finished with 18 at Ilfracombe.
For anyone who loves links golf then I can’t recommend Saunton Golf Club highly enough, 2 absolutely superb courses, a true test of golf.
What’s Illfracombe like? Staying there a week in August.

Course is ok, very very scenic. Market themselves as you can see the sea from all 18 tees, was lovely on a nice hot day when we were there. A few very bizarre holes and a few that criss cross, which isn’t my favourite on a course, but on the whole an enjoyable round of golf.What’s Illfracombe like? Staying there a week in August.
If you can though I’d recommend driving to play Saunton, it’s about 25/30 mins from Ilfracombe.

I played Bury on Friday, it’s a good test, got to think about every shot. First time I’ve managed to beat the course, I usually end up with about 26/27 points, but this time managed 37 with 3 birdies so was happy to finally get one over on it.

Get a cheshire card , davenport , hazel groveI’m growing a bit weary of my local course Macclesfield which is all hills and sloping lies so by way of a change looking to play somewhere else one day this week, probably Wednesday. Anywhere relatively flat will do. Styal looks possible but am open to suggestions South Manchester or East Cheshire way , preferably no more than 40 quid green fee. Any recommendations?

It's a fucker, best I've played certainly this year on Thurs & today.
Knocked 8 shots off my best at Castlehawk on Thursday.
Tee & irons very good for me today at Ashton but putted like I had double vision.

Ha! Sounds like golf. I had one of the weirdest rounds I’ve ever played yesterday. Couldn’t hit the ball on the front nine and managed 3 (yes three) full on, straight right, shanks and carded a 52. Stayed on the course despite wanting to drive home and cry and played a 38 on back 9 for a semi-respectable 90.I managed to find a previously unknown level of crapness today.
The heat and humidity are a killer at the minute in the summer months though. It’s 42 with humidity at 80% and a feels like of 48 and yet I still saw some weird fucker walking the course.

Was Going to play Ganton today, had to cancel because my lad and I had our wires crossed over his days off. BASTARD!!!!
Going to Lancaster instead with a mate who`s a member there and Davyhulme Park.

I had them, they destroyed my game. I`d been through a spell of playing my best golf just before they started. I hit 3 onto the beach on the 2nd ? at Kingsbarns. I walk the hole after doing that, I felt like I would put every ball I had on the beach.
