As I said, I don't want any more restrictions. I honestly want them gone, just like most people. It's been a long hard few months, no question. I guess I'm saying I just don't understand why now.
I think my concern is that it feels like we're opening up on the 19th because the govt said they would a few months ago. If I'm honest, it feels like they are just wanting to move on and there's every chance this is absolutely not going to go away. It feels like they are wishing it away. My worry is that by wishing it away, it doesn't go away for a lot longer.
If the current restrictions are allowing for rapid rising of new cases, removing them is only going to speed that up. For example, if wearing masks reduces transmission - I assume it does as that's why we've worn them - then making them "personal responsibility" is going to increase transmission. Removing social distancing will increase transmission. More people on public transport and in the office increases transmission. It's the absolute opposite of what we want to happen.
Honestly, when they announced the roadmap I expected 90% of people to be vaccinated and about 1000 new cases a day. I didn't think we'd be about 75% vaccinated and potentially 40k and rising cases a day.
I don't know what to suggest really, but I just feel we're removing the restrictions for the wrong reasons. And if we lockdown again, I won't be at all happy about it.
