Anecdotal, but interesting after what was said about Bury on Zoe and my own experience of Rammy, but mate just messaged as he’s gone for a test at the one in Rammy and said there was a huge queue, first time there’s been one.

I've just been invited for an antibody test via the Zoe app - might be a dumb Q but I've had 1 jab so would antibodies show up from that or only if I've had COVID?

Two thirds of all deaths today were in Wales.

Well 2 out of 3. See how easy it is to be mislead by the statistics when numbers are low

Last week the final number was 3.

Total cases for the three nations with England to come - 4048

Last week the number was 4166 - Wales and NI are both double and Scotland around two thirds last week

From that number there was a big jump of 8000 in one go to 22, 868 with all the nations rising,

But it has stayed pretty flat since then and we kept below 30K all week

Where we go today will be very interesting,

27, 334 cases - up from 24, 248 yesterday

But a rise of under a quarter week to week

9 all settings deaths - 7 in England - so 6 out of hospital.

I don’t know about the Zoe app one, but the antibody trial that my family are on gives you your results for both. I’ve only got antibodies for the vaccine. My son has none despite his last test being 2 weeks after his first jab. The test of the family have antibodies for both.

Deaths absolutely minimal - 1500 people a day die in this country. We are near the end now. Loads of kids getting it which is no bad thing as they are not getting too ill. Good news is stadiums will be full in just a few weeks. That will feel much more like normality to me.

That's my experience as well. I actually think the vast majority of people have been really good, certainly in my area of Lancashire. I was in the North East last week and it was the same there.
Try Asda at Hurst Cross in Ashton, it's a joke, even most of the staff don't wear masks, I've emailed them once and got a standard issue reply saying they will deal with it, going to send another.

Hospitalisations at our local have gone from 2 to 5 in about 3 days. If we see 10 or more by end of the week I’ll be getting concerned again.
Dedicated Covid ward reopened at Tameside Hospital a couple of weeks and its filling up.

No, the point is she would be in shops/transport filled with people not wearing masks whilst her protection is limited due to being compromised through poor health. It's not the fact that she doesn't have to wear a mask which frightens her but the fact that the population doesn't which puts her at greater risk somewhat needlessly.
Feel for people like her but hopefully they will be able to buy these (or get them free from the NHS).

Has she not always been at risk with her condition, or is it only covid that would impact her?

My Mum is high risk due to having scarring on her lungs from pneumonia, the slightest chest infection she is on strong antibiotics and oxygen, can barely speak nevermind walk anywhere. She wouldn’t dream of demanding that we keep restrictions or people should wear masks in shops. People were vulnerable before covid and we didn’t do it then.
Has your mum got pulmonary fibrosis? Only reason I ask is my mum was placed on a new drug for the disease from Wythenshawe Hospital and her condition stabilised, unfortunately my mum then became so ill she passed away just over 2 years ago. The drug was expensive and delivered by a motor cycle courier for security.

Bury again best in GM and only one in two figures on 95.

Bolton had the lowest Pop Score though and with Stockport a Pop rise of under 45.

All with Bury - up 49 - down on the day and week to week.

Manchester also had a huge fall of no less than 139 cases week to week. Salford also down a lot week to week.

Oldham, Rochdale, Trafford and Tameside the only ones to rise week to week,

None by a lot. But Trafford pop score up 73 - highest rise of the day - meaning Stockport gained 28 more on it in one go.

Really good day for Greater Manchester today,

Down BOTH day to day and week to week above the falls in the North West also down day to day and week to week.

Like we saw in Scotland - unless a testing issue is impacting both areas not being reported - then maybe the peak has arrived in these first two regions.
Judging by the number of young people that I've heard about that have caught it, it wouldn't surprise me if, together with those double jabbed, we've achieved herd immunity of Delta in the NW. Too early to know but it wouldn't surprise me if case rates plummet over the next few weeks.

the staff have to put up with a lot of sh*t, forcing them to wear a mask all day when we’re at the near end of restrictions isn’t something I agree with to be honest.

Could take one jab for some others 2 jabs to show antibodies, I read 96% of people will make antibodies from the vaccines..

I agree it's tough but so is catching Covid and those staff come into contact with a lot of people, I'll remind you it's actually the law, not a whimsical rule.

Thanks for replies - I presumed that to be the case but a few weeks ago my wife and I both developed the *newer* symptoms (runny nose, headache etc) I was over in a day or so but mrsbilliejoe (who hadn't been jabbed at the time) and our 5 month old had it for about 4-5 days longer. We stayed indoors and took the LFTs throughout and they all showed negative, I was just wondering whether the antibody test might shed some light on whether that was covid or just some summer cold/high pollen we were dealing with.

Depending on the test they can detect antibodies specific to the spike (could be either vaccine or infection) or antibodies to the other parts ofv the virus ( infection only)

Here's the uk prevalence of both. You can see how the impact of vaccination hits one test but not the other.

So depending on the exact test, you may get confirmation if you've been infected as well as vaccinated.
