If Foden doesn't play it's because he doesn't fit the managers particular team. It's worked so far, including his start in the first game. There is literally nothing anyone can throw at Southgate at this moment in time. My personal view is that he will start, however.

They are deluded
Also sterling shouldn’t be in the squad on his recent city form if that’s your argument

Not sure how old you are, but if you are a similar age to me or younger you will only have seen misery,90 and 96 the exceptions. Since then though it's been frustrating each tournament, but here is a guy who in his last (his first) tournament and now this has got us to semi finals, hopefully tonight making history to get us to a final. Yes he might be cautious at times, but it's effective. So it's not a case of rating him, I don't really care much either way about him as a manager, but as it stands he has us in a very good position.

We aren't going to agree clearly.I remember both the above tournaments and they were wonderful feel good times,predominantly because we had managers with presence and personality and who played teams that entertained.
Southgate has had it very lucky so far and his brand of football isn't my bag,i just don't enjoy watching this team under his leadership.

I remember the w.c 90 team evolving as the tournament progressed we were quite lucky to beat both Belgium and Cameroon.

We probably played our best game in defeat against a strong German side.

To Soutgates credit,he seems to have kind of emulated the functional German teams that always progressed to the latter stages of championships.
No bad thing in itself if it brings success.
My gripe is that with the players we have we could be quite a lot more than functional.

Can't see anything other than an emgland win, 3-1 would be my bet.

Italy england final would be interesting. Best position the national side is ever likely to find themselves in. If not now than when?

Can england get rid of the bottler tag?
