Great post although i think the Danes will have a right go which might give Southgate some thing to think about.I would like us to do the same with Mount,Grealish and Foden but cant see it as Gareths must not lose tactics have worked so far and u have to give him credit for that.It will be very interesting when we lose possesion high up as the Danes are quick to get forward.
This game will not be as easy as some think.

I think Walker had a really poor game against Ukraine. He was one of the few negatives from that game. Maehle, who has been one of the stars of the tournament, attacks down that flank and Damsgaard likes that side too, so Walker will have to up his game and be more careful on Wednesday.

I think if we did a combined team, Denmark would get more players in than people imagine. They have the better keeper, both Kjaer and Christensen would push Stones and Maguire very close, Maehle and Shaw are both excellent but based on this tournament, Maehle gets in.

Hojbjerg and Delaney vs Rice and Phillips? Very close again, and I might just pick one each.

It's in the attacking areas and the talent we can call upon from the bench that we completely blow Denmark out of the water. Our depth is probably the best in the entire tournament.

I don't get why some are getting their knickers in a twist about people having a sceptical or perceived negative opinion on Gareth Southgate and the teams performances so far under his stewardship.

Yes, 2 semi finals on the face of it is decent, better than many can remember but my opinion of his reign is that England are capable of much much more and his negativty is what has and could again scupper any chance of real success, you know actually winning a tournament.

Phil Foden as this tournament has gone on has seemingly fell to about 4th in line for what's probably only 1 free spot in the team due to Southgates tactics. I find that totally baffling and it's only the fact the team has managed to get results that's stopped a lot of criticism heading his way.

Are those that are well and truly on the hype train going to consider this tournament a success and want Gareth Southgate in charge of England if we get beat in either the semi final or final having played the way we have, with the quality he has available to him?

It might seem harsh but I'm yet to be convinced about England's chances based on what I've seen so far. It's frustrating though because I believe we have enough talent to strike fear into everyone we'd face but I doubt the Danes or especially the Spanish or Italians are particularly worried.

Looking solid against Scotland, Czech Republic and Ukraine isn't getting me believing the hype.

Absolutely. I shouldn't be feeling worried about us playing Denmark but what I've seen since Gareth became manager has been that cautious it leaves us vulnerable to pretty much any half decent team.

I really have my doubts as to whether we'd recover from going a goal down. Luckily it's not happened yet in this tournament.

But Sancho wasn't doing his bit. They had a wing back type system and he wasn't tracking the wing back, leaving Kyle exposed when they attacked on that flank. You could see him shouting to Sancho and caught in two minds on several occasions. That problem went when they went 4-4-2 and he was great after that. He's had an excellent tournament actually but his energy probably doesn't get noticed by the average pub fan who just sees the odd misplaced pass and judges him.

I think it’s a little disingenuous to call Southgate ‘boring or defensive’ as a coach.

What he is doing is using the tools at hand to win games, keeping things tight, having players up front who will chase back and defend and a solid midfield.

He’s doing this for the first 3/4ish of the game and then changing things up with the 5 subs at hand, with 3 subs at hand I think we would see a different team starting.

Southgate has taken a leaf out of Eddie’s book with the England rugby team and has divided his team into starters and finishers, grind out solidly in the first section of his plan, still lots of potential - but as the opposition legs start to fade he puts more speed, skill and youth on the pitch which most haven’t been able to cope with, the finishers.

It’s decent plan to be honest and it’s worked so far - let’s hope it continues to work !

I definitely have the impression that Saka listened and helped out more than Sancho.

Walker duffed one pass, and got outnumbered once, maybe twice. I didn't think he had too many other defensive issues. It appears that the general plan is that Shaw goes forward, and Walker doesn't very often.

I mean fair enough, I have nothing against Walker. I think he's been pretty good this tournament so it's not like I'm just singling him out. I'm just saying he needs to be a bit more careful against Maehle and Damsgaard, that's all. It's the first poor game I think he's had, so my post wasn't meant to be some kind of negative assessment on his whole tournament performance.
