By your measure I have been bidding for the leadership of the Labour party since Harold Wilson quit.

How can you tell a Tory is lying? they are breathing.

They should rename the Conservative Party the Lying Cunts party.

In Thatcher's favourite boy Alan Clarks book on the History of the Conservative Party he explains why the Conservative Party exist, he goes on to say they exist to be in power and it does not matter to a Conservative how they get into power, how they keep power and how they stay in power. Lies are natural to them because power is the reason they exist. In that sense Johnson is the finest ever example of a true Conservative, because he will do anything to stay in power, he did what he had to do to get into power and he will do whatever it takes to remain in power and that includes lying like a twat every single waking minute of the day.
 
If the rumours about Ken Loach are true I really do despair. How anyone from the centre to the left can’t sit down and say “whilst we don’t agree on certain things, we do agree we can’t keep enabling Tory victories”, instead of the pathetic squabbling is beyond me.

May be the party needs to be destroyed as it is. We are very much right of centre at the moment and if the electorate are there then you can’t go full left to get them back.

Nobody wants a left society, as has been proved, which means that if Labour want to lead, they have to change.

Not sure this is true. Labour got 40% of the popular vote in 2017 with the most lw/socialist offer possibly since the 50's and certainly since the 70's / early 80's. Corbyn only actually missed out on being PM by a few thousand votes. It was then deemed necessary to persuade us that a 'left society' was a more dangerous option than a failed mayor and Have I got news for you stand-in presenter.

Corbyn just fell short and maybe with a fair media could‘ve gone further. However, they still fell short even when a light was lit under those voters who hadn’t voted for while, choosing to wake up following the Brexit vote.

I do wonder if we are now akin to the US where it’s either right or centre-right, has our nation changed or have we always been like that?

How come the Tories were elected with a minority of votes? I think it was around 35% of the electorate.

It is a fact more people voted for left/liberal parties than for right wing parties. It is one of the vagaries of FTP that we have had governments with a minority vote at every election since the war apart from 1951 i think.

I refer you to my last post, mate. I’m genuinely intrigued at where we are as a nation. Only yesterday was I having a conversation with a couple of down to earth, working class lads whose thinking is much aligned to the right of centre.

Churchill was elected in 1951 on fewer votes than Attlee.
