was it really his 3rd penalty given away at City? seems a lot given his lack of playing time yet.

He had an okay game up until the penalty. Unfortunately, that's what his Community Shield performance will be remembered for
Indeed. At this level, he needs to be okay all of the game. He has made a few error like that already. Maybe he needs a run of games but I don’t think he will get them.

Depressing as fuck to hear that he’s being racially abused on Instagram after today’s game. Not on that platform myself, but hopefully anyone who is can report these fucking idiots.

These people obviously do it for attention. Like people who post ratio/W/Penaldo on Twitter but of course far worse.

So we've got booing the knee. The abuse at Keane and Wright. And now this.

Not the best of days for social progression.

Genuinely think he can do a job for us and I think injuries have clouded some judgement.

He always looks in such a rush though. My biggest issue is I've seen nothing that makes me think he will be any better than a Tosin or THB.

Huge season ahead for him. Hope he learns from today.

Watching the replay back- Was it a poor pass from Rodri? Yes.. but should Ake have done MUCH better with it? Absolutely.
What you hope for is that they both take accountability and move forwards. Neither player will want the moment to drag them down after what were honestly two promising performances.

Agreed. I thought before that Rodri was playing really well. That's quite unpopular on here it seems.

Had a really good pre season other than the mistake at the end tbh, and throughout the game played really well in some of the positions he took up defensive to cover vardy. He's actually a lot quicker than I thought he was.

Either way, best to get them out of the system early on, was unfortunate with injuries last season, hopefully this year he can stay fit and really push on.

hes so slow in possession, the entire point of mendy coming central is to open the channel to the winger but he rarely if ever saw it and when it he did it was 3 seconds too late, winger has to receive the ball facing his own goal and destroys the attack. Looks like he can barely run after his injury as well

I have no problem with him as the fourth choice, but if we sell Laporte and he becomes our third choice and is one Stones or Dias injury away from being in the starting XI a lot, it doesn’t look good. Let’s be honest. Anything else is wishful thinking. Last season, Pep would have rated him as our fifth CB if it weren’t for the very peculiar Garcia situation. If Laporte is gone, I would sign a new CB, but try our best to keep Aymeric first
