Here in Melbourne were are now under curfew. Roughly 20 cases per day.

A family is being fined over $350k for an engagement party with around 70 guests.

Local playgrounds are all closed.

You can't even drink in public without a mask.

This place has gone completely mad.

Half the people on this thread want that here. Please educate them.

Its tough.

We are now in what we are calling lockdown 6. We have been locked down for 200 days, and this most recent one feels almost the worst.

It started with a 7 day circuit breaker but looks like more than a month.

Many many people are going broke, I'm lucky im still working but long term is the worry.

Every time we supress it we open up get a few weeks/months of semi normal living then bang we are back shut down looking at idiotic press conferences and everything revolving around who got sick and where they went.

Once everyone has been vaccinated in aus and nz and people still catch and spread the virus will they carry on locking down?

The 'proper leader' who managed to let the very rich co-founder of Google to bring his daughter into NZ for treatment while some New Zealanders have been unable to return home?
A proper leader who didn't send infected care home residents back and kill 1000s of people needlessly.

Thats exactly whats scaring people.

You can only be compliant so many times and if the end game doesn't change then it almost becomes pointless.

Vaccination is increasing but ultimately it's not the solution and nobody yet has shown what the future holds.

Vaccination is absolutely the solution, it’s just that the governments of Australia and New Zealand have failed.

I’m in (greater) Sydney and a good friend lives in Melbourne. He’s quite left leaning but even he’s sick of Andrews. He works at a pub and the last straw was the current lockdown where they had 3 hours warning. Thousands of dollars of food prep and beer kegs (not the beer!!) down the drain.
Personally, I’m fucking over lockdown. I know it could be worse considering what I’m seeing on the news in Afganistan at the moment, but this is no way to live. We better open up after a certain % of the population is vaccinated. I don’t think people can handle much more. This isn’t sustainable. Just read a news report of 8 teenage girls committing suicide in Melbourne due to lockdowns. Shit times…hopefully not for much longer. I dream of cracking a beer around the fire at my mate’s farm. It’s time for smaller government and let people have personal responsibility…the ol ‘don’t call us, we’ll call you’.

For a while Gladys seemed like she had no idea, but now It looks like Dan has completely lost it.

Closing parks ffs.

out of curiosity how come Aus/NZ are so far behind the curve when it comes to vaccinations? is it just down to other countries with more financial power buying them all up?

Sorry for no data yesterday. I was struck down with a kidney infection. Slept for 15 hours on medication. Feeling much better today. Taking some samples to the docs later for testing but they are expecting them to be fine especially given hw fast I seem to have recovered today.

Will try to catch up later with some abbreviated data on yesterday as well as hopefully todays in full.

Wales follows below

WALES DATA

0 deaths - was1 last week

761 cases - was 543 last week

9.8% positivity - was 7.6% last week - big rise here as few tests yesterday

Our politicians are useless. We bought a fuck tonne of AZ but due to rare blood clotting issues in some people it was decided that AZ was only suitable for people above the age of 60. That was the health advice up until about 3 weeks ago.

Most people have been waiting for pfizer….which is in short supply. Due to existing health advice and fear, a lot of people still refuse to get AZ.

Vaccination rates have picked up the last 3 weeks. Younger people are starting to get AZ and politicians have somewhat ‘blackmailed’ the population by saying lockdown will only end once we reach 70 or 80% vaccination. Hence encouraging everyone to just go and get any vaccine available.

I got first AZ jab 4 weeks ago. Would probably be waiting until September if I’d waited for pfizer.

Australia and NZ have gone so far down the rabbit hole they've lost their minds, but it's unsurprising given the nature of their politics and ideology over there. Normal people paying the price.
