Football and fortunes change quickly as we have seen with the return to form of John Stones and the emergence of Dias, but can change for the worse just as quickly.

IF we lose Laporte, and either Dias or Stones have any sort of issues, the drop off in ability to Ake in my opinion is huge and could be the difference to retaining the title.
Thats a very fair comment but as Pep as stated on many occasions "if a player doesn't want to be here they can go".
I agree we would be short of cover if he goes but surely the club would of discussed this and have plans in place for this happening, i could be wrong though as i'm just a mere fan

Our ITK, said earlier in the week Laporte was told he is going nowhere this year, a few days later we are told he is up for sale.

If we are trying to sell to raise cash and that is a big IF, it to me is a major error.

The Kane saga is getting beyond a joke for me, and again IF we are selling Laporte in some sort of fire sale, it's crazy.

Totally agree.
This Kane business is really began to bore me now and could end up being very disruptive

Laporte has already been told by Pep he'll get games. We go big for every cup, there are potentially 70 odd games up for grabs. Fucks sake even Mendy will get another go at some point... There will be good opportunities, Stone's or Ruben's form may dip, and and he'll be able to step up. I genuinely believe he'd be a fool to leave.

Fantastic game from the big man today.

Despite how good a partnership Dias and Stones formed last season, I love the balance we get with Laporte on the left - and his passing out from the back is such an asset to the way we play.

I really hope today is the start of seeing him back in the team again - surely we must be able the rotate Dias, Stones and Laporte enough across all our games to give them all plenty of minutes.

Last season it always felt like Dias and either Stones or Laporte. There should be no reason why it cannot be Stones and Laporte in some games.

He looked very comfortable today, his passing was good and a nicely taken goal.
He stepped up today so that's his place to lose now.

Has to stay!

City would be mad to sell him.

Especially for £60mill.

Have a feeling him and Dias will form an amazing partnership this season like what was expected last season

If he's staying, all you really want is for him to put the pressure on Stones and Dias. That way the second that they dip he can come in and make the place his own, and force one of those two to take it back off of him.

That's what Stones did to Laporte last season, so now it's Laporte's turn to fight back.

Strong performance today.

If he gets the same extended run in the side at the start of this season that Stones had at the start of last season then I think he can form a partnership with Dias that's just as good as the one he had with Stones, if not better. Having one right footed and one left footed CB gives us much more balance and we can move the ball a bit quicker as a result.
