After the performance given by Gabriel Jesus yeterday, who needs Harry Kane? Jesus is an unselfish grafter, a proper team player who has played for Brazil several times. He is also surrounded by experienced players, and nearly all of them are capable of scoring. Forget Harry Kane, he is too expensive anyway. Keep Jesus as the regular centre-forward instead of paying stupid money for a player who is rapidly approaching the end of his career.

Someone here has to be not an asshole to you, so I welcome you, and feel free to keep sharing your opinions despite the reactions of others. Brazil does miss something when Gabby when he doesn’t play, as the Copa America final shows. And I agree that the amount of money Spurs is asking for Kane is stupid.

Ings would have done for me but as a fall back option but of course he was snapped up.

I think Spurs will sell Kane but not very confident. I think Levy will be very conscious that the Kane transfer value will collapse after this season. £100m plus add-ons like £10m for a PL title and £10m for a CL title, £10m for Ballon d'or i.e. difficult add-ons but add-ons we'd be happy to pay.

i'd also like to add that even if gabby gave an unbelievable performance as a striker yesterday and scored 4 goals, we'd still absolutely need a striker, because he hasn't proven to be reliable enough in that position and one game doesn't change that.

They generally don't post unless there's something new to post, so radio silence means you can presume nothing has changed.

The situation is that the City end are all saying positive things and the Spurs end are all saying negative things. Journalists pick whichever side to listen to depending on their audience and employment. Trying to find your way through the fog is impossible for journalists with great, reliable sources so we have little chance to do it ourselves.

The only thing I'll say is this "Levy won't pick up the phone"/"Spurs are not negotiating"/"Kane is not for sale" stuff is absolute horseshit.

If we have to sell to afford Kane then imo we can't afford Kane. If we have to sell Sterling, Mendy and/or Ake to get Kane then ok but no one else is surplus enough.

Imo a Laporte level player in defence is crucial to success. And Bernardo level player in midfield is crucial to success. So if either go we'd need to replace with similar. Not possible if we get Kane unless a kid comes in.

I'm glad we got Grealish before getting a striker. Our biggest problem imo for the past 2 seasons was either Mahrez or Sterling killing attacks. I wanted that addressed asap. And it was so great.

Getting a Kane is not just difficult from a financial perspective. It also is difficult imo to see how he improves us given the way we play. How many chances did Torres really have in the game yesterday. How is new player going to do any better unless the way we play changes a bit and then that brings its own risks.

Imo we have 2 first team strikers atm - Torres and Sterling (because out wide he does more harm than good). If we replaced Sterling with a decent affordable striker I'd be more than happy.

As a team, a vast majority of players would love to play in this team, but some of those may not want to live in the UK, Manchester etc, not everyone thinks English culture/lifestyle is a dream.
