Harry Kane

Is this really true.
Was there any news about this ?
Up until Chelsea coming in he was saying he was happy at inter and didn’t want to move but hdd we had unfinished business at Chelsea and I think that’s what swung it . If we had any inkling he wanted to come we would have moved for him .

We can spend the rest of the window trying to get the price down, but at this point we need to do the deal. We know it, Pep knows it, you better believe Levy knows it.

If Spurs really needed to sell Kane, financially speaking, I think they would have done so already (see Inter and Lukaku). For all the talk of transfers, they've only spent about 20 million this summer.

From their perspective, selling Kane leaves them with no hope of Champions League football next season, and they can't get anyone decent in with the money because nobody wants to go there.

I don't think that's a deal breaker - if it was off, we'd know. But it does mean, IMO, that Levy will hold out for his asking price. Either he keeps Kane, or he softens the blow by making us overpay.

I still believe we'll end up paying 150m with all the add ons. What concerns me is that at the moment it feels less like a negotiation and more like a staring contest.

Both sides seem to think they have the other over a barrel, but there's only one club that actually expects to win things. That's why we have to blink first.

Especially after passing on Lukaku and Messi, which would probably have been easier deals to do.

Is that strategy paying whatever spurs wants? What we offered now is fair and it looks like if we have to up the bid we have to sell Silva ..
I'm sure we would all agree that out succession strategy has been abysmal really - we were lucky with Silva as we had Phil but how long did it take us to find an able replacement for Vinny when we knew his injury track record and the fact he was on his last legs? Unfortunately it seems to be groundhog day when it comes to planning efficiently for our players leaving, we're in the same situation with Aguero and I have no doubt we will be in the same situation with Fern, Walker and KDB.

I really don't have an issue with us paying a sum that suits both parties but if we are on the fence about the fee replacing our record goal scorer with who will probably be the record goal scorer domestically then I don't see that as unfortunate, I see that as a failure at board level to get the right personnel in when we need it and doing so in preparation of key players leaving.

The whole situation screams of ineptitude, its almost as if we had a single name to replace Aguero and then we're unhappy that Spurs aren't selling him to us. The board knew Aguero wasn't getting a contract extension and at that exact moment, there should have been a list of able replacements drawn up and the relevant staff members should have been able to analyse which 3 or 4 would be the best fit and available at a price that both clubs and our budget and then go out and negotiate. Instead, we have pursued a single striker who has years left on his contract, is employed by a renowned tough negotiator while we've watched Messi and Lukaku move and claimed we're not interested.

I will be delighted if we get Kane but it shouldn't be downplayed how horrendous our strategy has been for years.

Unfortunately Chelsea's purchase of Lukakau means we're gonna have to pay whatever it takes to get a striker of similar caliber. Which at this point is Harry Kane. Just pay the man what he wants. We can afford it. And when strikers cost more the season after it will only hit them harder than it will us.
