It's been suggested that the deal is agreed and were just waiting on spurs signing replacements without getting fleeced. Quite a few on here have agreed with that saying it makes sense.

I'm saying that's absolute fantasy as we would never put our own needs aside for this long to accommodate another team. We have probably agreed everything with Kane but as it stands we are not in agreement with spurs on the fee. We may get there, we may not but we would never wait this long if it was all done and we certainly wouldn't allow him to play a game if it was all done and dusted

Takes the piss out of Tolmie and BM in general, when he was claiming it would be completed "today/tomorrow" about three weeks ago, and his subsequent climb downs have been utterly embarrassing. I literally explained myself immediately after saying it, it's in the same sentence. If we tread water whilst our rivals improve and catch up then you effectively go backwards. There's time for that to change but that's currently the case with our squad.

Yes. Grealish is a luxury signing, a player who doesn't neccesarily improve our starting 11 given his position is one of our strongest and most stacked areas in the squad. He's the type of signing you make when your squad has no obvious weaknesses or areas to improve and you're flush with cash. Neither apply to us this summer.

For every Torres that might improve with experience there's somebody over 30 on the decline. unless we have a team of eds players that evens itself out across the squad.

I don't know how we are treading water, that's what I am saying, and I don't especially know of rivals who have improved more than us. United signing Verane and Sancho, two unproven (PL) and Chelsea signing Lukaku is no more of an improvement than us signing Grealish, IMO.
