Harry Kane

A friend of a friend, whose wife had her hair done in a salon run by a woman whose husband drinks with a plumber, whose cousin knows a bloke who knows a sign writer who was paid to mock up that Queenwood sign so Jamie Rednapp could put £100 on Kane being in Manchester on Saturday.

Obviously, thats only in a "not that I am an ITK, don't shoot the messenger, thought I would share it" sort of a way and should or shouldn't be taken as the truth. Honest. I think....
Nah not having it - no horse racing related element to it - unless of course Jamie did a double on this and ‘Levy’s Lost It’ in the 630 at Wolverhampton then it sounds perfectly legit to me !

I don't know how we are treading water, that's what I am saying, and I don't especially know of rivals who have improved more than us. United signing Verane and Sancho, two unproven (PL) and Chelsea signing Lukaku is no more of an improvement than us signing Grealish, IMO.
Regarding Grealish, some will think he improves our starting 11 and that's fine. Personally, I don't think he's a better option than what we currently have, he doesn't bring qualities that the squad lacks or plays in a position we are light or weak in he's just another body in an area we are well stacked in in my eyes. That's not knocking Grealish by the way, more a compliment to the talent we already have in the squad and that's why I don't see the Grealish signing as improving our squad.

Last season, everybody commented on our need for a striker, many said we need a new DM, some would say left back, others would say we lacked pace upfront, all credible comments but nobody was wishing we had another wide left player in the squad. Id liken it to if we had gone and bought another right back this summer, could be an excellent player but just not neccesary.

Varane and Sancho are huge improvements when you see they're replacing lindeloff and James(?) genuinely no idea who they even played on the right, everything went down their left. can ask legitimate questions about them but I don't think there's any doubt they strengthen united unfortunately.

I think you're grossly undervaluing lukaku, Chelsea signing him is huge. I've said before he improves Chelsea more than Kane would improve us. Chelsea's biggest weakness was upfront, they've just signed a perfect fit who is at the very top of his game, he will be an animal for them.

So basically we're knackered.

It doesn't matter if we do, as long as we get him. Running down the clock is another standard negotiation tool, one that's being used by both parties here. Neither need to do the deal before then so I strongly suspect that's what will happen.
Get that. But equally, let’s say we know we will go to £135m. Levy also knows he will accept £135m. Everything else is bravado. Why not just do it now. Get him in. No need to just drag it out, it’s already dragged out. It would be majorly risky of Levy to not accept an offer we make now, unless he really doesn’t want to sell.

Until he piles the weight back on and turns into the Lukaku we knew and loved at the rags..

If Kane or another strike doesn't get signed- signing Grealish for 100M will look absolutely silly imho. As you said, it's not a knock on Grealish as I think he's a good player, but he's not a SIGNIFICANT upgrade on anyone who plays on the left. Foden is better than him already at 21, and it's yet to be seen if he's an upgrade at all on Sterling. LB and more importantly striker were the positions that needed to be prioritized this summer and neither have been addressed as of now.

I get where you're coming from, but I remember a lot of people complaining about Sterling last season and saying Grealish (among others) would make us much stronger on the left side

I suppose Van Persie would have been a luxury player in the summer of 2012, given that we had Agüero, Tevez, Džeko and Balotelli at the club, but a lot of people still claim that not signing him handed the title to the Rags

Anyone else find it strange that when we first started talking about kane coming spurs was linked to loads of players

Then it went quiet again

Now we supposedly bid again and there getting linked with loads again adama /aouour / mckennie etc

Can only see it getting done by us paying what they want or very very close to it
But what is that number ? According to this morning’s Telegraph Levy wouldnt even accept £150m which, apparently, we are unwilling to pay. Sounds like we are at an impasse. Time to move on IMO.

You would have to be a particularly insane kind of stupid to pay the £150m+ fee to buy Harry Kane.

He's been half the striker he was since his 5th ankle ligament injury in 4 years, the one that required surgery to fix in 2019.

And if the first few games back are an indicator, the Hamstring surgery he's just come back from has taken away some pace (and he didn't have loads before).

To pay that much money for a guy who appears to have prawn crackers for ligaments would be criminal financial mismanagement.

Oh and he's 27 in 3 weeks, so he doesn't even have age going in his favour.
Think he's shown great resilience to come back so well "half the striker" just shows anyone can spin this anyway they want.

I'm sure the club want him now but if it saves £10-20m by waiting a week then they'll wait a week. That's negotiation. Our club is run by guys every bit as savvy as Levy and we also have books to balance.

Exactly. Wouldn't surprise me if levy wanted close to 170m.

I agree with you 100% about Grealish. A decent enough player no doubt but not what we needed IMO.

love to know how these rags have insider information about what the club has offered ?.....or are they simply guessing to make headlines ?.....hmmmm
