not the only one

Shirt sales don't work like that, it's the biggest myth in football! Players have the name on the back but it's not an additional shirt sold

City sell roughly 1m-1.5m shirts in total each season. Ronaldo would have to sell an ADDITIONAL 4 million official (not the counterfeits all over the world) shirts to cover his wages.
Yup but our commercial partners will probably give us a few extra bob for signing one of the two best players in the world. No doubt about that...

Also it will grow the fan base at the youth level. Lots more kids in City shirts.

Which they would a few times over if he signs

For me this is the biggest football story of the summer and potentially of the last few years, if we pull this off today.

I did not see this coming at all and i don't think anyone did.

I’ve been think about this and I don’t see how Utd can NOT go for him.

£60M over two seasons to strengthen them and significantly weaken us.

That would be better money spent than £70M for Sancho if they think they can compete with us for the PL.
How does it ‘significantly weaken’ us? We were 2 slightly different team selections away from winning everything last season, won the league as comfortably as its possible to do and have added Grealish.

Personally I don’t mind if the feller turns up or doesn't although, on balance, I’d probably prefer not. Not because of any visceral hatred of the bloke but because it seems to be a knee jerk reaction and goes against the currently successful transfer policies we have. That’s to say the type of player, their temperament, being part of the collective and their age profile.
It smacks of desperation and short termism and is seemingly being driven by Pep and his desire for a CL to cement his legacy. City will be here long after Pep and we need to guard against becoming another United when he leaves.

Even though this absolutely reeks of panic and desperation, i hope he signs, just to make United fans cry
