No interested in how Liverpool did it, we played Chelsea 3 times last season and never looked like scoring.

Scoring 5s against weak opposition is no indication, it's in the tight games where a single chance is the difference, those are the times when we miss a ruthless striker.
Not interested, because it doesn’t suit your argument ?

We’d didn’t look like scoring because for some inexplicable reason, we didn’t once pick our best team or even trusted formation.

Ironically for all the need for a striker it's so obvious we lost the final due to lack of a proper DM handling counter attacks.

Still persist in my view that we needed to also try strengthen at DM and left back. Every season we've made it work in attacking terms but the defensive frailties have always been our achilles heel. They continue to be the difference in whether we win the title or not, or whether we win a big final or not.
We have 2 great DMs but don’t always play one.
Next season we need to replace Fern with someone like Ndidi.

Get replacements in early. Fernandinho couldn't play 3 games in a row. Our only DM is Rodri. Given a long season what if there's an injury? Then you're stuck relying on a 36 year old for a good chunk of the season. Our only recognised left back is Zinchenko, the other one in custody till hearings are over and who knows what the outcome is? The preparation should've been better.

Bissouma is a much better footballer. Ndidi’s passing is nowhere near good enough for us and we haven’t played with a pure destroyer since De Jong. More likely to end up in united’s workmanlike midfield

We do seem to allow other teams to catch up to us far too often.

Should always strengthen and improve even when well ahead. LB, DM and striker are clearly weak/weaker areas. The club keeps expecting Pep to work miracles.

Like last season there is a big chance not improving those areas will bite us at the deeper end of the season.

I worry about our team and we simply miss too many chances.

Kun at his very best in this team would be the cherry on the top of a beautiful cake.

Personally think Haaland would take us up another level, but that seems highly unlikely.
It’s not happening this summer, next who knows, so don’t jeopardise the chance with a stopgap. The question is can we start nicking goals in those games like Chelsea. We did make chances, Foden had a great chance in the final. The question is does Torres have the mentality for those moments, as well as the ability. We won’t know until they happen, I suspect he might well do.

Thank god we dodged the bullet on Sanchez. Astronomical wages and no impact on the pitch at all. A disastrous signing by the Rags.
Correct - but the needy on here were mad up for it at the time - and some were proper critical of City' management for not getting it done

Just glad we have professionals running our club - unlike at Trafford

Making chances and taking them two very different things.

We have broken all sorts of scoring records in the last few years but let's be honest with the chances we MISS, those records should be far more.

Beating weak teams comfortably and let's be honest the Premier league is full of them is not a true indicator.

Big games, usually are won with taking chances that may be few and far between, the one major weakness our our wonderful team is a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

We won big games last year, Dortmund and PSG both twice, Apart from those 3 chelsea games we did okay. I’d argue rotation cost us in those 3 games as much as missing some chances.

We managed to get no where near kane and see psg get messi
Think some serious questions will be being asked
We truly fucked up this window
That's not me being entitled either, that's the top dogs talking big and failing to deliver
If you look at sanchez, koulibaly, jorginho, kane and messi We really do struggle to pull off these big deals
Would loved to have seen Messi at City - on the right terms and being part of the team - but personally fucking delighted that Messi did not come to City - for the deal that he ended up with at PSG - just a fucking circus for a year or 2 and would have fucked up the team spirit

Could have 'tolerated' Ronaldo for a year or 2 on the deal that has been suggested that we were offering - but really glad that we did no get into some bidding war with the Scum - another fucking circus

And yeah - hindsight makes me really regret not getting Sanchez and/or Jorginho - not

Kane - well be were prepared to break the transfer record for a 28 year old with no resale value - but not prepared to have the piss taken out of our club

All those examples you give only evidence that our club if very well run and that the management are top professionals

When one of their ex managers is wading in on transfer policy they can’t be taken seriously as a club. When they getting Ferdinand and Vidic back if they are so desperate for it to be 2008?

Don’t think he said we were going to replace Sergio with world class forward! He said when you on top is when you invest in the squad..
I can't remember exactly how he phrased it but wasn't it something along the lines of "We will make a statement signing"?

If that is the case, and I am more than happy to be corrected, then I would suggest that breaking the English transfer record is a statement signing. Just because we haven't got the dream team striker signed up does not change that fact.
