I often think back to that pre-Premier League 5-1 and think how close we came to getting Ferguson sacked. Alternative histories, eh? What would the balance of power been in the following twenty years? I suppose they had a very talented crop of youngsters coming through anyway, so even a moron would have got them some trophies. I'm certain, though, that they wouldn't have established the two-decade hegemony which — barring some incursions from Arsenal and later — they held.
They were rolling in money but there were very few decent coaches around in the late 80s and early 90s.

I reckon United would still have done well but Villa and Newcastle would have won a few league titles and Arsenal would have overtaken Liverpool for the most league titles.

(I think this should be a staple City song with those words rather than the verses and chorus that relate to Munich)

Normal derby Day shits this Morning but it's my lads 3rd Birthday so I'm not watching it, have a bad feeling so if it's a good result when I check in the afternoon it will be a Brucey bonus!

Come on City!

In the wider context and talking rationally (like you have there), this is simply just another game and we’ve won 10 trophies since they last won one.

But in terms of the derby itself it’s a poor showing of late:
Last 5 (all comps): W1 D1 L3 F2 A7
Last 4 (Prem): W0 D1 L3 F1 A6
Last 3 Prem derbies we haven’t scored a single goal.

As much as the wider context is important for the entire rest of the year, during the 90minutes on that strip of grass the only thing that matters is the derby. And we need to pull our bloody fingers out.

If I was Pep today I’d walk into the changing rooms, not say a single word, write that recent record up on the whiteboard, and walk back out again.

The record isn't great, but it is partly due to us competing on multiple fronts and chasing trebles and quadruples. If we were chasing only PL or derby glory, those results would have been different. That is, we are failing partly because we are extremely ambitious.

Take this week. We have a derby 60 hours after a CL game with Brugge. Yet, we don't rotate much in the CL for fear that if things go wrong vs Brugge we may fail in the CL, and the players are desperate to win it. Thus, we play a very strong team 60 hours before the derby.

Can't remember us having a great game when we played Wednesday night in the CL and at noon on Saturday. Hopefully we are fresh enough and have a great game this time around.

Will be another 10 years gaining in 90 minutes. Beating them has so many positives you just want this to happen over and over again. But despite us having the better over that lot for many years, we still somehow give them bragging rights on too many occasions. Not today. Come on City !!

I proper miss Blackburn away, best away ground to go to!

Look how passionate and rowdy we were, I’d love to know if all of the fans there that day are still regulars?

Blackburn fans said we were the noisiest they’d ever heard from any set of away fans that day.
Same here, great away trip.....used to meet up at big pub on hill Fernstead I think....happy times.

My father said to me one day, is it red or blue for you,
And if it's red your out the door, and I won't see you no more,
And Then one Saturday afternoon, he took me to Mosside,
He said my son your time has come and, this is your lesson in pride,
You see The Scum you never run,
You stand and fight your ground,
And when you've won on derby day,
Your sure to hear this sound

HARK NOW HEAR,
THE CITY SING,
UNITED RUN AWAY,
AND WE WILL FIGHT FOR EVER MORE BECAUSE OF DERBY DAY...

Not happy that all the pundits think we will breeze through this one. Setting us up for a fall. Any result won’t be a surprise today for me. I think all three outcomes are just as likely as each other.

Some Blue on talksport now, Forever Blue podcast, saying Grealish is a ‘problem’. His son said if Grealish plays, we lose. If he doesn’t play, we draw or win.

can’t say I agree with that at all. Any of it.

Not Grealish’s fault he’s being hung out to dry pinned to the left touchline.

Not many things come close to beating these lot.

No matter how successful we go on to be, and how many classes above we are of em', me and all Blues i'm sure, will never forget the arrogance and pompous gloating we have had to put up with for so many years.

Please Pep, take this one seriously.
