while in spain last week everyone wears a mask out shopping etc, no ifs or buts and i think a 600 euro fine if you dont comply, over here the scrotes play the exemption rule and think there being smart, why? i have no idea mate,there in dire need of educating

Odd that their cases rose by 50% week on week this week, France‘s went up by 60% and 13% in Ireland. USA fell by 20% whilst they rose by just 10% in the UK (less in England).

South Africa reporting 3,220 new cases today, representing a 9.2 % positivity rate and a further eight COVID-19 related deaths. The vast majority of new cases are in Gauteng (2,629), followed by Western Cape (121) North West (116), KwaZulu-Natal (110) Mpumalanga (97), and others. Evidently spreading quickly in the country’s most urbanised and populated province.

I can't imagine any of those figures have any connection to reality. A low vaccination level, minimal testing (3220 cases) & hardly any deaths is a huge under-representation of the actual situation.

Quite what that implies for the UK beats me.

Because Boris said a long long time ago unless you had a medical condition without proof you didn’t need to wear a mask, at that exact time it came down to decency towards your fellow man which a great number of the British public lack.

Maybe it’s because people remember boris and the experts said it wasnt an airborne virus and it was mainly transmiable on surfaces so wash your hands and shopping deliveries . Masks had questionable efficacy because people touch their face and they put the mask down on surfaces and that can spread Covid . Whittys words not mine.

if masks were so effective why don’t they tell us to wear a medical mask when we can wear a bloody piece of cloth and that’s ok.

It wasn't a criticism of you but those figures mean nothing.

It's like Ukraine and Russia. Cases less than the UK, official deaths far higher (Ukraine around 700-800, Russia over a 1000 daily) but they are far lower than the actual numbers. Russian excess deaths were way over 400k months ago, for instance.

Other than Western European countries, the US & certain Asia Pacific countries you can discount most other statistics.

Oh I agree they are only a snapshot. I suppose, however, that they show that Omicron is spreading quickly in one concentrated area, though it’s still too early to say what that might mean in terms of deaths. However, I posted an interview earlier with Professor Mathivha, head of the ICU in Soweto, and she cautions that increasing numbers of younger people 20-35 are already presenting, almost all of whom are unvaccinated.
