I’ve always felt that the talking down of masks in the early days was perhaps more to do with making sure the public didn’t snap up all the supplies as they were needed by health workers. When you think back, there was a dearth of masks at the beginning of the pandemic.Maybe it’s because people remember boris and the experts said it wasnt an airborne virus and it was mainly transmiable on surfaces so wash your hands and shopping deliveries . Masks had questionable efficacy because people touch their face and they put the mask down on surfaces and that can spread Covid . Whittys words not mine.
if masks were so effective why don’t they tell us to wear a medical mask when we can wear a bloody piece of cloth and that’s ok.
