F1 Season 2021

That's the last one for me. After that today and the quite blatant corruption in the officiating in the Prem I'm feeling pretty flat this evening. Two sports I've absolutely loved since I can remember being destroyed by money, TV and people not even competing on the field of play.

What's the point? It's all a fucking farce.

Pretty much is. The FIA has stated that it's the Race Controllers descretion that in the end supercedes the rules. That's also in the rules. Basically if the RC believes something needs doing in the best interest of the sport, they can make an off the cuff decision within the rules.

hahaha

so in other words they can change the rules to let max win the race and title on the spot
clearly cheating can now be allowed knowing the setup on both car tyres are different

max and red bull did not disserve to win the race with lewis was so much faster on the day
even horner said that in the race interview with sky. lewis was so much faster max he had to pit 3 times for tyres
so i don't under stand why the race director called it racing when lewis should have been 50seconds ahead

they clearly cheated and wanted a new champion ? the wrong champion

The interview with Jackie Stewart was very revealing. F1 needed a new champion.

Racist old dinosaur, like his mate Fergie.
Yeah they did, as they always do.

Listen i'm not defending the FIA, just as I wouldn't defend UEFA and their bullshit, but it's frutiless going on about it now. The FIA has their own rule book and know every loophole, one that has just been exposed.

You follow the rules as written, but in the end the Race Controller will always have the final say on race day. They didn't want this season to finish under yellows. Remember that if Lewis had managed to hold off Max on that last lap, Red Bull would have put in the same appeal and would have been told the same thing. 'RC rulz, ok'.

Uefa has their own rule book, how did that work out for them?

When has F1 ever been any different? Remember Ferrari in the 2000's? Spygate?

It’s the fact that rulings like this simply justify all of the shenanigans in the sport that I have an issue with.

For me, race directors, umpires, referees etc, need to be held to account more often not given more powers to interpret rules as they see fit.

Yep! In any enterprise, whether sporting or not, you can only affect the elements which you control. Everything else is just the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. Outrageous though today's manipulation by the FIA was, Merc have to accept it, subject to appeal obvs, because there is nothing they can do about it.
“ma·nip·u·la·tion
noun
1.
the action of manipulating something in a skillful manner.

2.
the action of manipulating someone in a clever or unscrupulous way.”

Thanks for agreeing with me by your choice of words.

I think definition 2 was in effect.

meh let it go, anyone expecting the F1 heirachy to even lose a night's sleep, are simply not in touch with what this sport is or how it's set up.

Yes they have. They even admit to it in the statement.

"Although 48.12 was not applied fully".

They've admitted they broke a rule, but they think once Masi says the car comes in, it has to come in.
Thanks for pointing this out. For the last several hours I have been quoting that clause and based on it, the result cannot stand. However all that time I was unaware that the race director was not required to follow the rules.

Any Billionaire can build a chassis, put together a team and immediately compete at the pinnacle of the sport. There'll be plenty of corruption already.
Indeed.

Hence there's a few daddies boys in F1 cars over actual decent drivers.

I've watched F1 for over 40 years and my Dad much longer and after a few years that have been really uncompetitive it's been good to have a couple of teams competing against each other.

Unfortunately, the FIA decisions in the last 4 laps of the race today have put an end to my F1 viewing, a total farce, changing the rules 30 seconds before a safety car comes in was ridiculous.

When Latfi hit the wall, Verstappen had 5 back markers to clear, Hamilton had done so and was 12 seconds ahead, under a safety car you can't over take, but some how the Red Bull managed to be next to Hamilton. Red Bull said they needed a miracle, and that appeared when Masi changed the rules.

Add to the fact the Red Bull had already used Perez as a blocker earlier in the race to slow Hamilton down, and also as a slip stream in qualifying the day before. Without either action been mentioned.

s'what happens when Americans own a sport.
Coming to a premiere league near you

Where does it say that in the rules?
39.12 If the clerk of the course considers it safe to do so, and the message "lapped cars can now overtake", has been sent to all teams via the official messaging system, any cars lapped by the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the safety car.

Mesi has used the terminology of 'any' to justify only sending 5 lapped cars through rather than the whole field.

Looking forward to this coming to football:

City 2-0 up.

United get a penalty.

Mike Dean decides it's worth 3 if they score it.

Alright it's not right for the sport but it's great drama right?...right?

Yeah imagine this rule change in snooker:

In the event of a deliberate foul shot the referee must replace the balls in their exact positions prior to the foul can place the balls wherever he fucking wants.
