Newcastle United (A) - Post-Match Thread

Someone told me earlier today that yesterday was the dippers first sending off in over 2 years, is that true? Explains why Milner wasn’t sent off 3 times in the game thus season

Apparently so. I don't remember the same outrage from the pundits when Milner didn't see red, do you? Funnily enough Klopp didn't have any issue with the ref that day either.

Enjoyed that. First game I've been to in 2 years, so it's good to be back!

Thought Rodri, Cancelo and Ruben were great, some others not at their best, but quite easily good enough beat Newcastle. In the first half, I thought their midfield kept us away from the "last third" quite well, but when they changed formation, it played into our hands for the second half.

As for the "penalty", I think we'd have moaned about not getting it, but really, I can't understand why nobody is actually asking why it wasn't a foul *on* Ederson. The ball was long gone, Ederson was on the floor and the Newcastle player basically ran into him feet first. It's as much a foul on Eddie as it is a penalty.
Agree not a penalty, Fraser also looking to get Cancelo booked, after he initiated contact with an elbow to cancelo chest, then ending up in the hoarding.

So one of the player on bench yesterday must’ve been the one who went for a little tension release after leeds game? Reading between pep’s line.

Noticed that last night. Was it because of covid restrictions? If not then that was a piss poor turnout for a top game. And yes it won’t get a mention.
Somebody said there was a tube strike. But 42 500 managed to find a way to gthe ground. The scoundrel in me thinks the other 25,000 went all Spursy, used it as an excuse and said fuck it it's a bit chilly.

We are the best in excuses for our attendance so let’s give them the benefit of the doubt.

Could you imagine going to a game in the capital without the tube service.
I wouldn't know where to start.
