Inspired by DD went up to the Trough of Bowland on Sunday for a spot of fly-fishing for grayling on the Hodder.
It was bloody freezing when we got out of the car, frost on the grass and ice around the edges of the pools. Far colder than I expected and my hands were frozen before I'd put the rod up. Once I'd got them warm again the important thing was not to get them wet. First cast I hooked a stone and had to plunge my arm in up to the elbow to retrieve it.
Fortunately it warmed up a bit and turned into a lovely day. I managed one 4" grayling but my mate had a couple of decent fish. See below.
