Bluemoon Angling Thread

It’s not properly edited yet mate. My mate is doing some music for it too. Shouldn’t be long. I’ve got a great project for the next one too involving uncaught carp.
i could help you with that its all i seem to do is uncatch fish :)

Surely you will have to catch at least a couple of them to make a decent video? I might make my own video on how to sit there for six hours in winter catching sod all and drinking tea. It'll make a nice contrast on YouTube to the vids of John Arthur, Jamie Hughes etc bagging up every time.

You did really well to catch that beauty on such light tackle Noggs, well done. You're holding it like a noddy though mate; )

In fairness, I don't get much practice. I genuinely don't think it realised it was hooked at first. It didn't give that long first run they usually give which, I always think, is when you're most likely to lose it.

In fact, I was very nonchalant at first because I assumed it was a pike that had got hold of a dace that had hooked itself. When I saw what it was, and the size of my net, I nearly shat myself.

Haven't had so much as a nibbled maggot since. Still, they say God loves a tryer.

Probably got your nose in front because you were relaxed and didn't panic on that first run - easy to get over excited and panic the fish. Well done mate, absolute beauty especially on such a light set up.

Wasperton just outside Warwick. Home now, never had another knock. Amost surreal feeling and so glad they invented cameras on phones.
It’s a special fish in these conditions, on that light tackle and from that river. You should be well pleased with it mate.

They do come out on maggots in the winter and are heavier than in the summer too.

Two weeks until season starts. Subs paid. Only a few flies left to tie. Floating lines all cleaned and treated. Fly box for first outing sorted. First heat of the National late April. A week on Rutland booked for early May. Our annual competition booked on Eyebrook early October.
I am well ready to go.

Exciting time of the year. We're hoping to get an outing on Rutland in May too. If we're there at the same time I'll wave one of my inevitable whoppers at you.

Went out grayling fishing yesterday and caught four around a pound on the centre pin.

today I went out all day travelling everywhere with a pike lure rod, a perch lure rod and my trotting gear. Had one bump on each of the two lure rods, including a pike which was on about 5 seconds, but didn’t land anything.

I’ve now edited my first film, about urban grayling fishing, for practice really. I’m pleased with it. Just need to import some music that my mate has written and I’ll let you lot have a look.

Inspired by DD went up to the Trough of Bowland on Sunday for a spot of fly-fishing for grayling on the Hodder.

It was bloody freezing when we got out of the car, frost on the grass and ice around the edges of the pools. Far colder than I expected and my hands were frozen before I'd put the rod up. Once I'd got them warm again the important thing was not to get them wet. First cast I hooked a stone and had to plunge my arm in up to the elbow to retrieve it.

Fortunately it warmed up a bit and turned into a lovely day. I managed one 4" grayling but my mate had a couple of decent fish. See below.
