Six boroughs had less than 100 cases - even Stockport which has finally started to see its still highest in GM numbers start to fall well. Zoe has been predcting this for a few days.

It has the North West now as the lowest England region with only Wales in the UK lower.

The GM low scores were

Tamside 60, Oldham 61, Rochdale 62, Bolton 91 and Stockport 99.

Bury was lowest of all on just 46 - first sub 50 in months too.

The highest was Manchester on just 168 V over 2000 a day when Omicron first arrived in December.

As follows:-

V 130 - 147 - 123 - 119

NORTHERN IRELAND DATA

You will notice a rather notable rise in the numbers above age 80. More than doubled in past week or two. Whilst overall case numbers have more than halved.

This has to be connected to the still fairly hgh number of care home outbreals - though they have started to fall a little.

Now 2% of the total. It was well under 1% when Omicron arrived and only just over 1% when the care home rises began and has risen 50% in the past 2 weeks.

The 60 - 79 age range has risen too but % wise a little less. But now 8.8% and was just over 6% at the start of 2022 so not far short of 50% either.

But at 10.7% over 60 that is a signifcant jump from just 5 - 6% when Omicron first arrived.

However, it is still around half the % of cases that were in the over 60s last winter.

As the other numbers show te drop in school ages - no longer the largest group - indeed down now to 28.4% from 44% around Christmas - is the other notable change.

Deaths are still low V last year and hospital numbers not escalating because the vaccines arenot translating anything like as many of these over 60 cases into serious ones as was true then.

The tiny number on ventilatiors (lowest now today since midsummer 2021) says it all

Another good day in Greater Manchester though Stockport still doing the worst relatively.

Even the BBC local news has noticed this and pointed out Stockport has the largest Pop Score in the regon.

Not quite sure why Stockport has struggled the most with Omicron given it has the best vaccination numbers in GM and one of the best in the region. And up until recently the lowest Pop Score across the pandemic of the 10 boroughs. Though Bolton is now well clear again and Oldham is just a few days away from overtaking Stockport at current numbers and chasing Bolton in their stead.

Of course, even Stockport is well below where they were a week or two ago. Up 20 today on 119 - highest other than Manchester which is on 162. Meaning Stockport is still down 78 on last Monday.

Bury scored the lowest cases in GM since last Summer today on just 38. Best of the seven out of the ten boroughs who were under 100 cases today - Wigan on 101 - the only other not to do so.

GM total today is the lowest in at least 4 months on 866. Multiple boroughs in GM were scoring that or above on ther own each day when Omicron cases peaked a few weeks ago.
