I am not in disagreement with targeting the owner if he is linked but let them sell tickets etc and ring fence the money to keep the club moving. It's like points deduction. The only victim's are the supporters.
Agree. Not only that, but the rest of the season they’ll play all their home games with no away support, which also seems wrong.

So who is paying there wages then because I’ve read they have next to nought in cash in the bank also if Barclays have froze accounts I say again how are the players the staff and everyone who works for Chelsea getting paid?
Apparently from any cash reserves the club might have .....can't see that lasting long but who knows other than the club itself

The invasion of Iraq was based on poor intelligence (perhaps purposely so if youre conspiratorial) and deposed a ruthless dictator who murdered whole swathes of his people for decades. It was performed under the rules of engagement by an international coalition of countries who attempted to lessen civilian deaths where possible.

The invasion of Ukraine is a pathetic landgrab against a democratic European nation by an insane nuclear armed dictator who along with his friends has stolen hundreds of billions from his nation, imprisoned his political enemies and murdered people. He has several times agreed to a ceasefire/corridor and then shot the people attempting to escape, has annexed whole parts of the country and is currently under investigation for crimes against humanity.

To draw some moral comparison between these two incredibly different events is either spectacularly lazy ir spectacularly stupid.
Just one minor point, this ruthless dictator was our best mate when he was fighting Iran.
Had he stayed out of Kuwait this ruthless dictator would still be in charge of Iraq.

At this time of year, clubs' cash reserves are generally low. Most money comes in at the end of a season and some (from UEFA mainly) in December, at the end of the CL group stage. I think the PL make an interim payment as well. Meanwhile clubs have been paying wages and other operating expenses. A lot depends on when sponsorship cash is actually received but, in general, clubs will be either low on cash or using credit facilities around March.

Personally I've always been pretty ambivalent to Chelsea as a football club and don't really wish them well or ill and this isn't a defence of Russia or anything like that but I think the Premier League when it does its "fit and proper" check should take some level of responsibility. As fans of any football club our only protection from an improper owner is the league so when issues like this come up the league should be working a lot harder than they seem to be right now to allow parties to resolve it(and the comment applies as much to what happened to Bury, Derby as it does Chelsea)

Apparently the academy players are saying they’ll go without wages till stuff is sorted.. Very good of them, especially if that money can pay those that will need it.
