It's a team game. It's all about partnerships and relationships all over the pitch. Everyone has a role to play and all the cogs work together.
Completely agree, but talking of partnerships it doesn’t help with Cancelo going inside every single time. I get he’s naturally going to do it as inverted wing back but even when Grealish seems to be in space or the better option he just bypasses him. It’s no surprise Grealish created our best chance of the match… on the other side of the pitch.

Thought he played well tonight, although not as good as against that lot. Definitely improved over the past month.

Offered a more direct threat anyway and hopefully he can get inside more where he’s a bigger threat. Should really have had an assist or two if any of our players had remembered where the goal is.

still I find way too much luxury for a player to regularly starting in our front three who will not score more than 3-4 goals per season in the league.
especially given the lack of clinical striker who would hit 25+ to balance it out.

I want to see a match where he grabs a game by its neck where we really struggle and scores two goals or sets up two goals. We have seen so many games like this from Kun, Yaya, David Silva over the years. KDB too. match winner moments.
Even Sterling, Mahrez, Foden.

he had an interview around Christmas where he said himself he thought his numbers would be bit more up given how much more dominant City is than Villa etc., but his numbers are hardly up since Christmas.

2 goals and 2 assist in PL, and much of that happened back in August? I think when we beat 10 man Arsenal 5-0 at home in first or second round, he scored one and assisted one. thats half of his numbers pretty much.

If we had Sterling on 2 goals playing from the left he would be skinned alive. he was rubbished all last season how bad he was and his form did drop a lot for sure last season but still scored 10 goals playing mostly from left. (only Gundo scored more than him in league)

we need more from Grealish if he keeps starting in the front three. more end product...

what I see defenders easily defend him when he tries to cut inside the same way every time and already dispossessed before he can make a shot which if he does is usually blocked by the defender on him

Cancelo refused to cooperate with him on the left side and Grealish eventually gave up and went to the right side, created a golden chance for Bernado when City struggled.

What else could we say...

spot on. I just can’t see him ever putting good enough numbers up to justify a place in our front 3. Hopefully next season he can adapt to the way we play and have a more productive role as one of the midfield 3.

TBH Grealish did create 2 very good pull back pass from left half space but it was not coverted by the teammates in the middle in the 1st half...

Throughout the match, the crowd murmurs were mainly about how Grealish (and foden) is having another ineffective game, barely involved, offering very little and needed to be subbed for sterling or jesus with 20-30 minutes left, most people were saying he and foden were the worst two on the pitch and should come off, nobody was disagreeing.

Cut to bluemoon and there's pages of people suggesting he was our best player. It's almost as baffling as Pep not making a sub. Must have watched something else. First 10 minutes it looked like he might continue his united form, he looked lively then he reverted back to being safe and hesitant and remained so for the rest of the game. Better tenacity in him at least.

When silva Grealish were in that left side palace had up to 6 players in that corner stopping all passing channels nibbling at them no other team has this amount of defensive block to get through! Lost teams have a couple of players max.

Well if the crowd were saying it, then it must be true. Shut the forum down lads!

We need to be smarter and faster in such circumstance. Our defence needs to drop ten yards and lengthen the pitch rather than take the ball deeper into the opponent‘s half and condense it further. We also need to take greater risks and play more vertical passes than rely on horizontal passes. I’m sure we’ll get more practice in the coming weeks, alas.

You don't expect him to be motm every game but think it's fair to say he should be getting near or have been motm once ,having seen every minute in the flesh would suggest he's only had 2 proper good games Leeds and the rags .

my problem isnt that he "does things safely" its that he's fucking shit when he tries to take risks. gets dispossessed with almost shocking ease.

best not mention his shooting. If the goal of football was to shoot at your opponent's shin he'd have won the ballon d'or already

He’s doing ok. He’s not used to so many defenders around him. If we had a striker they would occupy some of those defenders & Jack would get more space.

final third is too busy in most games we play especially with our tactics
