In north M/Cr the things we threw at a log end were called arrows (or arrers as it was pronounced) and I presume that’s why we have pubs called the 3 Arrows.
Not sure about in other parts though.

And if they were stuck in deep you got them out by twisting as you pulled.

yeah I always heard it callled the log end, as young lads in the local pub we would be playing on the normal board but the pub teams league was on a log end so they used to be getting wound up by us taking ages to finish our game to put their board up and practice before their match
They used to leg us eat the sandwiches though as long as we had a go on the card :)

think the long end board was kept in a drum of water as well

Yep, when I was a lad in Failsworth all the pubs around there had a log end. It was part of our heritage.

They have their own version, it's called a Streford board. The centre is 4" in diameter. They don't have doubles, no trebles, just loads of bull.

I agree with you 100% Wolvie, but it seems that over on this side of the pond, even when you rattle their cages, they won't respond. It's almost like they've crawled under their rocks and burrowed below them. I'm hoping that the vermin have either a very late loss or concede in extra time for a draw this week to wake them from their slumber to see just how shite they really are.
As far as the sluggishness on BM is concerned, perhaps us loyal Cityzens have been lulled into complacency regarding the scum due to an extremely long and boring international break. I detest them just as much as before, but as I like to remind them.... they're irrelevant and inconsequential to the present and FUTURE champions and we have much bigger fish to fry. The irrelevant term always seems to boil some piss so I love to use it on them.

I actually think Stones and Maguire are a strong partnership. They complement each other very well. I was staggered at how bad Maguire was against City though. His confidence looks shattered. I also think Maguire was a good player at Leicester so something has gone badly wrong with him.

The MUEN has stopped going on about redeveloping the swamp as no one believes it. PR37 mentioned something about not retiring and no one gave a shit. (I think quite a few giggled)
Even Mr Fish Fingers and his PR team have gone quiet. Are their no Ukranians that need reading to ?
