Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I thought I'd heard Pep say "I would only leave if the players stopped listening to me" have things changed?

It’ll be down to whether Pep is still happy working here. He’s been here a long time.

If he’s still hungry and his family are happy, he’ll extend, if not, he won’t.

Itl, be nothing to do with the club. He knows he won’t get better surroundings elsewhere.

I think his stance on Catalonian independence means that would be very unlikely.

Yes, I thought about that, of course. As who wouldn't?
It might be an interesting test case. Perhaps he's the only person who could actually bring Catalonian and Spanish players together. He's certainly the best manager in the world, and the Spanish are the first to know that. He's their best guarantee of another world cup. And he's not the one who determines whether referenda and suchlike are held.
Unlikely, I agree. But might be tempting. Short-term contract, four years to get them the world cup, or not. Put it this way – I really don't see him coaching any other national side.

Yep. If Catalonia ever got independence and its own team was recognised by FIFA then I’d be a lot more worried, he wouldn’t be able to resist that

That's a dead cert. Except that, for all sorts of political reasons, I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance of that happening. Or of FIFA recognising them.

He so intense and requires such dedication and commitment that other than seeing it as a personal challenge, or wanting a different, less intense experience because of family commitments or whatnot, I would think a national side management role wouldn’t suit him. But if it did, I could see him theoretically in South America (Brazil? Argentina?). I’d be surprised if it were anywhere else in Europe. Or maybe . . . . . . . the USA? :) Talk about “doing it with a shit side”!

well Haaland ain't coming if Pep's going anywhere else. The only question is is he going to deliver at the end of the season in the games he needs to win, or is Klopp going to outshine him, possibly in perpetuity if he delivers the scousers a quadruple.
