I did wonder how this would work. It’s not as if anyone in NI or ROI cares or anyone would ever check. I guess some visitors may be deterred from going in the first place.
 
Beware those people going on holiday in the EU. Your passport must not be older than 10 years. Some people, like me, when they renewed their passport renewed it early and had the extra time added on (mine is 10 yrs and 9 months). The EU rule says that passports can be no older than 10 years.

How does Shapps explain the chaos in Kent which occurred before P&O? Furthermore why do jams in 2019 have nothing to do with Brexit?

It is preferential treatment though. Preference conditional on being a member of the club.

British overseas passport holders get the same preference in being allowed entrance through the regular gates rather than "other" at airports.

There was a former member on here who after voting for Brexit and the vote was announced, declared that he would be applying to get Irish nationality which he was eligible for as a child or a grandchild of Irish born citizen, specifically to avoid the situation above.

Not really a surprise that Brexiteers left and right don't like accepting the downsides of their own choices.

If it is all to do with P&O why haven't they made any effort to intervene by either

1) applying pressure to force the company to revert to previous conditions and get all ships in sea worthy state and operating at optimum capacity as soon as possible.

2) Nationalisation or part nationalisation

3) Secure additional capacity from competitors or another company

If it is such a serious problem and all down to P&O surely some intervention is merited?

Or does Tory intervention only extend to signing ferry contracts with companies that don't have any ferries?

‘Downsides’…..I beg your pardon but what you’re looking at here is an opportunity to take back control of airport queues , which I seem to remember we brits were very good at until those pesky forriners in the EU forced us to stop it, by providing sensible speedy passport systems to make life easier. Bastards!
And while we’re at it, why can’t we have special British only queues? They’d be better and happier queues for it, and we could stop any forriners from jumping in by threatening to put them on the next flight to Rwanda
 
To be honest, and having read Frost’s whining the other day about the EU ‘being mean’, it’s getting way too easy to take the piss out of Brexit or Brexiteers.

The idea of Mogg going to the Eurotunnel and staring into a large, dark hole for inspiration before declaring that yes, Brexit Border checks have been delayed (again) and that delaying a natural Brexit consequence is a great ‘Brexit boon’ is just too easy to mock.
