Political relations between UK-EU

Because under German rules she isn't entitled - you have proper shown yourself up with that post

really? So if she insisted she wanted the AZ vaccine as chancellor to show pwoplw it was safe ans to set an example they would have refused to give it to her as it would be breaking the law. Somehow i dont think so?

Care to answer the question i posed. Should AZ stop suppling vaccines to EU countries warehouse stockpiles and divert to countries that actually want to use the vaccines?

it was stupid damaging decision, she could of insisted she had it and vastly improved her countries vaccination take up. She decided against that. Bizzare

It was a decision taken by Germany, Poland and Switzerland because AZ did not produce enough data to warrant authorisation for over 65’s under the rules of these countries. Japan and the US have also not authorised its use and are running their own trials.

Merkel isn’t going to overrule the German Regulators by taking the vaccine, especially as there are other vaccines available.

This isn‘t an issue. Different countries, different rules. It’s not complicated.

Why don’t you read the translation of the source article rather than the disingenuous interpretation by the Express and other right wing U.K. media, then stop spouting rubbish.

FFS - Cummings broke the rule and got pelters. But wasn't sacked.

Merkel sticks to HER OWN GOVERNMENTS RULES and you think she should be pilloried. Your prejudices are pretty clear there.

Why should AZ stop supplying vaccines? Has Germany said they won't administer them? No it has set its own rules as it is allowed to as a sovereign nation within the EU. So why should supplies be stopped? To pander to your prejudices?

Firstly calm down pal. No need to get upset or angry, this is just a forum for opinions.

Secondly they are guidelines not rules or laws.

My point is she could have chosen to take the AZ and in doing so encouraged other Germans to take up the vaccine. She chose not to and in doing so she has undoubtedly put back the German vaccine programe ever further. If i were her i would have spoken to my advisors and said we need to encourage people under 65 to take this vaccine therefore im going to take it to show them its safe.

Its not just people over 65 that are not taking it many people under 65 across Europe are choosing to not have it and mainly because of the ill informed comments of European politicians and press. Merkel had an opportunity to possibly influence and change that ill informed public perception. In not doing so she has hindered the vaccine take up. But best leave it there as i know from experience that you personally are not prepared to accept any criticism of any european policy or leader, so we are not going to agree on this. Have a good evening.

Honestly don’t know what point you are pushing here, regarding Merkel.
Similar policy here in Ireland and from my understanding the AZ vaccine is a major cornerstone of our vaccine rollout, which currently I would be critical of.
