Im in the full fucking grip of whatever strain is doing the rounds as are 7 fellow colleagues from work.

Honestly never felt as rough as I do now.
I'm also in the full grip of this strain, feel horrible and have a really bad cough now as well

Hope you are on the med soon pal. I’m day 8 from first symptom and day 4 from a positive test and still no end in sight. Gone from the shits, through to banging head, hacking cough, sore throat, aches and pains and now taste and smell has gone.

For the first time since before Christmas all ten Greater Manchester boroughs reported fewer than 100 cases today. Manchester on 99 the most.

North West also sub 2000 on 1998 for the first time too,

Not going to report more from here on unless something big changes. Or someone asks a question I can answer.

Even Northern Ireland is back to having zero Covid patients needing a ventilator.

After 2 years I think the time has come to say this is as over as it is ever going to be.

Thank you - appreciated.

Another big fall in hospital patients btw today - the only true measure of things going the right way now.

Down in England by 672 in past 24 hours to 11,320 V 14,607 last Tuesday - so a fall of over a fifth in the past week.

Week to week Wales patients down 100 to 944, Scotland down nearly 200 to 1544 & N Ireland from 439 to 373.

So everywhere in the UK sees both cases falling and patients falling.

Care home outbreaks are falling too. In Northern Ireland back below 100 on 96 for first time in weeks.

All looking good

Agree, patient numbers are what matters.

NB I hope you'll stay active on Blue Moon, @Healdplace , we need an occasional dose of calm common sense. Can you recommend some 2022 albums or join in the barm v cob v muffin debate ?

All best wishes.

Thanks blue, hope you are feeling better soon as well mate, I'm day 4 after my positive test, still feeling really shite, happy that we beat Madrid but watching that wiped me out!

Just thought you would be interested in this news.

Cases in England today fell below 10,000 for the first time since 22 June last year. On 9705.

And this is not just lower testing creating a misleading impression.

The number of patients in hospital has continued to tumble all week.

And today England went back to having under 10,000 in hospital on 9938 V 12,883 last Friday.

A fall in the week of nearly a quarter.

Case numbers aren't meaningful any more - hardly anyone getting tested. The ONS is the only reliable case info - which is also showing a sustained drop at the moment.

Falling consistently for a month or so, but still high prevalence.

Hospital figures are, as you say, going in the right direction, but still a very significant healthcare burden.

I think we're in the clear for the summer, new variants aside, but defo need to get boosters up for next winter.

And need more health investment.

Do people believe covid19 was around before it was made public ?

In the April 2019 I have never felt so ill with all the symptoms of the than unknown covid19.
I went to the doctor he too had suffered from the same symptoms as me and still had a bad cough. He said he didnt know what it is.
He gave me some antibiotics to try and help me get thought my wedding. They worked just enough for me to get thought the day !.

It took over a year for my lung capacity to get back. If I took a deep breath I would have a coughing fit for ages. I was knackered.

It took me over a year to get over this in which time covid19 had been made public.

People have to pay for tests....
Fewer positives reported...
"COVID rates falling"
It's a miracle

There's lots of viruses with similar symptoms to Covid. I've previously had an almost identical set of symptoms to yours which was diagnosed as parainfluenza.

The original covid strain transmitted at a doubling time of about 3 days. If you were patient zero, you'd expect a million people to be infected within two months.

Lighthouse labs closed, Northern Ireland megalab capable of over 100,000 tests a day now doing fewer than 100 a day.

there have been plenty of studies into it, one being checks in sewage water. Sample are taken regularly and frozen so they can be checked back on, there’s no evidence of Covid in the sewage water before the initial outbreak.

there was one sample from Barcelona back in March 2019 that did come back positive but looks like it’s a contaminated sample.

Personally I did wonder if there was a coronavirus doing the rounds that mutated into covid but it would have shown in the samples.

Tested positive Saturday morning, felt rough Friday, used one of last few tests I had as was supposed to be in an exec box through work at Elland Road and never thought it would be positive, and although I could have gone just didn't feel right in that enclosed environment. Timing eh?
