Would you pay 50M£ for Phillips from a nearly relegated side after a really bad injury? I would try to find alternatives around Europe.

Hardly a career threatening injury and his injury record throughout his career has been very good he's played at least the vast majority of the previous four seasons beyond last, know a Leeds fan who raved about him before Bielsa saw a fair bit on sky when he was actually a box to box midfielder and he already looked Prem ready but raw, just a matter of gaining more experience he looked like the type of player teams are scared to take a gamble on in the Jarrod Bowen mould where it's obvious team's should come knocking a lot quicker, since playing in deeper roles he's come on leaps and bounds he's not a maliciously dirty player he's good at making tactical fouls and knows where to draw the line if booked, his energy levels off the ball work and aggression are way beyond Rice (who all round is the better player but a joke fee) he puts a proper graft I'd say Arturo Vidal-esque, so if he's going for around or any less than £40m as suggested any teams would be stupid for not trying to rip their arm out of their socket for him.

If Kalvin Phillips was in the French or Italian league I'm sure a good many of the negative posters on here would be all for wanting to pay upto £50m for him, honestly don't get why some are downplaying him it's very strange and totally bonkers for me, he has some genuinely good qualities that could fit in very well here he'd be an absolute bargain at that price for this squad long-term.

We've had many rave about complete gimps on here in the past I wasn't around for the first Pogba wankfest but any blue who wanted him over Gundogan, looking past any injury problems were completely blind cos silky Ilkay should've been Barca bound from 2013 at the latest without that knee injury.

That's exactly what I'm hoping TH says as in "Gabby wants the Atletico move". Really would all fall into place nicely for us, Gabby not playing for another Premier League club and going to Atletico whilst we get Felix out of it. Sounds too good to be true!

absolutely! Champions league football, sunny climate etc?

As a squad back-up to Rodri? Most definitely. Especially so, if it suggests Bernie will continue to be a part of our midfield engine.

Five subs next season will be huge for us.

*Bellingham next year.

Five subs will be brilliant for us. Imagine teams being knackered then we fetch on five equally talented players. Plus in theory they should all get more game time.

Would either club do business which each other after that Champions League mess?

Personally can't see McAtee making it based on (limited first team) appearances so far....but happy to be proved wrong!

Cole Palmer obviously looks the real deal though.
I think McAtee will improve a lot by being loaned out and getting real game time on professional leagues. Pep obviously rates him as he's been an important part on his renawal... One for the future.

Think Philips is criminally underrated by some on here. I honestly believed he was the better player between him a rice last year. Rice has kicked on this season and Philips has been injured but for 35mil for a key England player entering his peak years is an absolute bargain. But to be honest I can't see him joining us he would start for most teams in the league he seems the kind of player who would want to be starting most games.

Very exciting transfer should we pull it off. That's our forwards sorted for the next decade.

Haaland (21)
Alvarez (22)
Foden (21)
Felix (22)
Palmer (20)
Haaland only 21, difficult to believe, so young, all of them. If only I knew at 21 what I know now (not that it's much)!

Possibly, but Pep has form in not using 5 subs even when he is allowed to.

Pep said after the title win "remember we have 5 substitutes next season" with the biggest grin ever I think he's purposely made less subs to play mind games on clubs deciding, Pep was always a massive advocate for 5 substitutions but refused to use all available U-boats at any time, honestly I think he was pushing for them without making it look like we actually had an advantage of any kind due to our lack of subs that's a masterstroke if so, now it's been fully implemented next season I reckon he'll start using all 5 U-boats (subs) in most games and completely throttle this league think we'll also see more kids get game time from the bench.

Maybe I'm giving Pep more credit than he deserves or I'm overthinking this but it wouldn't surprise me at all, he's just getting started you can see the happiness time to really start dominating domestically 3 more years Txiki get it sorted and signed by Pep.

Not to go off thread anymore but I assume 5 subs still have to be made in 3 goes max?

Still really dislike this rule - games end up so disjointed with 10 new outfield players on by the end. The Covid fixture backlog is gone now so they should go back to 3 subs.

Felix is the new Isco or Alex Sandro. The player that we seriously do not need, who is extremely inconsistent, is still non-stop linking with City. Mainly because of the Portuguese colony and Jorge Mendes.

I believe two holders in Europe next season could see us take the final step, now we have Haaland up top!

I suppose we can't think too bad of City, we have stood by the likes of Aguero, Yaya, Fern, Vinny, Silva and Zabba until their last legs, more out of deserved loyalty.
You previously said that a signing was boxed off, was that related to Phillips or cucarella?

Dude I'm well confused is it 3 or 5 max subs?

You are definitely overthinking it.
