And a back three as well! The possibilities are endless if we get cucurella. If pep wants a 3-2-5 in possession cucurella can be part of the back three and allow cancelo to invert to play alongside rodri or overlap to allow the RW to come inside. If Walker plays, then walker can be part of the back three and cucurella can do the cancelo job and allow players like grealish to come inside if he overlaps.

Or say cucurella can be part of a back three and cancelo overlaps with bernardo/phillips(another transfer target) sit alongside rodri.

In a 2-3-5, we can have both full backs invert to allow our attacking mids to play between the lines in the front 5.

IMO this player is a must have as he offers us so many possiblites, only 23, and best of all, he's a NATURAL left back.

A good arguement with many likes but again plenty of additional comtent added to the original comment and my subsequent reply to it.

It’s time city starting throwing their champion weight around. If Leeds start playing games and no release clause exists then I would expect Philips to push the move. He can love Leeds from the sidelines. When Pep calls you come running. No need for a long drawn out saga.

Anyway, we are most likely a month away from any real signing. Haaland excluded.

Leeds have nurtured and developed him. His family are looked after by the club. He's worshipped by everyone there and has a rock solid relationship. He will not want to ruin that by marching around "demanding" a move. And City don't "throw their weight around". They have solid relationships right throughout Leeds United. If this deal gets done I predict that it will be done quietly and peacefully for all parties and if/when he goes back he'll be applauded from all sides of the ground. Like Sean Wright Phillips.

We aren't Bayern Munich or Real Madrid and I don't want us to be.

Didn't see this but this is a great post. It's one of the great flaws of football forums: diehard fans think that everyone within football is like them but they aren't. Look at how Carragher was a young Everton fan but now it's all Liverpool. Lee Dixon with City then Arsenal.

You will know this through your connections: most pros talk about their "boyhood" club because once within the game it becomes a business, the place they work. There's an affection, they like the tea ladies, the kitmen and they appreciate how they were looked after. But exactly as you say, they get one shot in life to make their family rich and respected for generations and they aren't going to blow that because they used to support a team.

One club men like Mark Noble do it because their club is their level and there's no need to move.

Exactly,and if a deal can be reached,only a minority of cunts/not rights will be claiming its nothing other than the opportunity of a lifetime for the lad.The vast majority of their support will surely thank him for his efforts and wish him well.

All very good reasonable points.

Thank god we are not Munich nor Madrid but we are Manchester City. Txiki should be able to wrap up transfers like Philips a lot quicker than we do presently.

Kavlin is not a kid anymore. I go back to my original point. If he is not sure about the move we need to move on quickly. Leeds fans will still call him a greedy turncoat no matter how much they stage manage his departure.
