A lot of City fans were in love with average Ferran Torres. "Trust in Pep" as always :) This is for me similar case. A player who is IMO not good enough for us and IMO we could find better around the world ;) But it's just my own opinion.

We don’t need him to be a world beater in fairness, it’s not a wow signing and I will be meh if it doesn’t happen but as a Rodri back up playing against fodder at home or to see a game out in Europe(try that sometime Pep) he would add value.

completely agree, particularly the last sentence. Wrap it up or move on. We don’t need another Kane saga in miniature.

We need all our transfers done by beginning of July as the last two summer windows have dragged on and and then we get roped in with everyone . Would like Phillips as he would be a cracking signing for us .

Phillips is the best option on market to have as a backup to Rodri. He does not need to be complete and flawless, he will improve obviously, and be able enough to compete with Rodri, or help us in games we need him. The issue is people think he is literally a Fernandinho replacement when that's Rodri, this is simply a backup, and we'll not have a player of Ferna's calibre on market any soon. So you've got to move with what's there because a squad reshuffle is necessary.

Lastly it's not our money, we are lucky that we can afford these players so we do what's necessary. Don't care if he costs £50-60m. As long as it's not absurd like £150m for Rice we'll do a deal.
 
He had a decent 15 mins today. He played as a double pivot with rice, in city he can do that with rodri, he is capable of playing as an 8 imo, we went forward in times today
