Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Noticed that was up after the last game of the season. I’m sure more will follow.

It’s all good news on the footfall nearer the stadium.

I’m sure there will be plans to open the Atrium in the Arena pre match - and redevelop City Square to cater for both match day and gig punters.

City square was unique when launched but it needs to be upgraded and there loads of opportunities with the Arena next to it

I’d be very surprised if Joe Mercer Way leading to the arena wasn’t refurbished at least. It needs it.

As for City Square, who knows. I doubt City will refurbish it if it ties in with the wider expansion of the North Stand in the future.

Today.

2 sets.

When I say refurbish I mean pulled down and start from scratch for something that will cater for both match day and gig nights.

I’m sure we will see something different built in time for the Arena launch

It does, but would they do that before an extension gets done as moving the shop and having construction at that end of the stadium might damage any work done to JMW

Fill in any cracks, which there are quite a few, a good clean, and a lick of paint, shouldn't cost too much money.

North Stand extension - Should have a social club!

The section which holds the 93:20 area in the South Stand should be a social club in the North Stand development.

It would be accessed externally through a staircase leading up the stand similar to the stairs you find at Villa Park.

At the top of the stairs would be a stage/platform which can be viewed from the ground outside and from within the social club. This is where the pre-match entertainment and interviews will take place.

The City social club would be open before and after games as well as other select nights as and when needed. Perhaps fans could go there to watch specially screened away fixtures etc.

Bars would still be open on the ground for those that prefer the open air with the social club being open to match ticket holders with seats and cover.

Its no thing of beauty is it? A random cube of steel.

You may have a valid point. It probably won't win any architectual awards. But internally, where it really matters, it will be one of the best, if not the best arena in the world. And to artists, concert, and event goers, that will be more important than the external apperance of the arena.

gonna be strange if they get events on a matchday: 23,500
and the Velodrome (refurbished) reopens soon with increased capacity.
And, what happens if Asda reduce the price of milk?'

"67 minutes have gone here at the Etihad... as have the crowd... to beat the Biber concert traffic."

The more I look, the more I think Co-op Live will enhance Manchester. I read that it can have seats retracted back for ice hockey. Bring Manchester Storm home.
  • Co-op Live 23500
  • MSG Sphere London 21,500
  • Manchester Arena 21000
  • The O2 Arena 20,000
  • Earls Court 20,000
  • Bristol Arena 17,000
  • P&J Live (16,000)
  • Utilita Arena Birmingham 15,800

No sign of Liverpool.

Very true and that’s why Leeds Arena is a fine venue too.

Hopefully it will be as good an experience for punters as it looks in those pics. The Manchester Arena is utter fucking shite when it comes to customer friendliness. It's harder getting a friggin' pint than it is at City at half-time. And not much easier going for a piss either.

I'm glad the cunts over at the Manchester Arena are spewing over this. The mard twats can't hack a bit of competition. Well tough shit - up your fucking game and you might just be able to compete. Somehow I doubt it though. I can see Co-op Live smashing it out of the park.

It will be pretty hard for Co-op to fail, with the bar being that low + having a good team behind with also Live Nation. Speaking of getting a pint maybe the club should implement the system Spurs have in their stadium?
