The problem with twitter is its very easy to hide your identity amd get away with it without any form of moderation. No doubt these people have faceless profile pics and have probably never set foot inside the Etihad in their entire life.

By all means objectively critique someone's performance, that's what opinions are for (and like any player Ederson is by no means perfect) but to abuse someone on social media really is pondlife behaviour.

I personally believe we have a great goalkeeper, nobody else could do what he does for us and play the way Pep wants his keeper to play. Some of our players deserve more respect from some.

Does the fact the chances the opposition receive via a high offside line for example make it look worse than it seems though?

People don't seem to grasp that all mate. Can't work out why we give away maybe 2 chances a game but it's usually about 2 yards out and completely unpressured.

The funniest thing is everyone on Twitter is saying "Courtois made me realise" - guess they couldn't make it to the ground when we put 4 past him...
 
Jordan Pickford looked a fucking phenomenal shot-stopper at Sunderland when he was conceding 10+ shots a game because there were so, so many opportunities to make great saves. I honestly just think the opposite is true of Ederson. Give him even seven or eight saves to make every game and I'm sure he makes a perfectly reasonable amount of them.

For some people it literally is just that football is the easiest place to channel their need to criticise and dislike something or someone. Raheem is the perfect example of that, got better numbers than Phil or Gabriel this season and somehow got more abuse than either combined.
 
How comes that Ederson is extremely disliked by quite a lot of people despite how important he's for Pep's system?

I'm asking because I didn't start following the until Haaland officially joined Man City.

I wouldn't say he's extremely disliked at all. We get a few whingers on here critical whenever he makes a blunder, but generally i think most blues appreciate what Ederson brings to the team. I wouldn't swap him for any other keeper.
