Sorry, are we in f***ckin financial crisis that we are letting everyone go? We need to buy a replacement if Ake could go, while we are planning every deal so slowly, what are we doing? We need 4 CB's. C'mon. We have the thinnest squad in the league and now we are become much thinner.
I just think if you can get £50m+ for your 4th choice CB you should recycle some funds back in. Dias, Laporte & Stones are 3 top class CB’s and aslong as we get a proper LB (which Ake did have to cover a few times) then why would we want somebody so valuable sat on our bench when we could better reinvest those funds?Our best all out defender for much of last season imo. If he's happy to stay we couldn't hope for a better "4th choice".

Ake's a terrific player. And no such thing with Pep as first second third choice.

Why did we buy him if we're open to selling him 2 years later ? Stones already misses his fair share of games, Dias had a serious injury at the end of last season, Ake is versatile, PL experienced and a current Dutch international. He came on strong in the last half of the season and looked a real asset.

I don't see how making £10 million profit is a big factor for us. We're here to win trophies and for that we need a deep, strong squad to go full in on 4 fronts. We were down to the bare bones at CB last season and we need Ake to stay. A replacement will cost at least £50 million and will need time to adjust to the way we play.I like Ake a lot, and think he gives us that bit of physicality and grit we lack outside of Dias. But realistically - we can't expect him to stay as 4th choice here when he could be starting at Chelsea, and it'd be insane for City to turn down an offer where we'd make a healthy profit off of him.
So if Chelsea is serious, I'd imagine he's gone. We do need to find a replacement for all of these outgoing though.
Quite the shake up this summer is shaping out to be.

Stones is fantastic but has repeated niggly muscular injuries.
Dias is fantastic but not immune to a pretty bad hamstring injury as we saw at the end of the season.
Laporte is fantastic but just had knee surgery.
Ake is fantastic but seems to have had a dodgy ankle recently.
Even employing all four of these players we still found ourselves in a position of having to briefly pair Mbete with Fernandinho in one match (surely one of the biggest CB partnership age gaps in history) - and we've just lost Fernandinho too.
We can only sell Ake if we're also buying a CB of equal quality and equal willingness to be rotated, or if Mbete's ready to step up and do what Ake did this season, and there's another EDS CB waiting in the wings to fill Mbete's current role.

Its a good point but I think the question is less about profit and becomes something like - is it easier to replace Ake with a competent 4th choice cb for less then £50m, and can we allocate that extra cash to a bigger first team signing the next few years.I don't see how making £10 million profit is a big factor for us. I have no info whatsoever but I think it'd take a larger fee than that to sell Ake, and if he does go I can't imagine the club would want to spend more on a replacement. Ake's wishes will also play into it. I could not blame if he just said hey, love it here and all, but I'd rather start at Chelsea then be 4th choice. He also came through their academy didn't he?

Was a beast against Real Madrid 1st game.Getting strangely pissed off about this. Quality backup option which was more than required last season because if injuries.
I mean I trust the club but we have to replace him surely ?

We need Ake, reports suggest he is happy to stay, so keep him. Same goes for Zinchenko
