Ok fair enough, but let me asknyou thus Tolmie, How much did we pay for him, wasn't it 40m to 50m anyway. So what's the point if selling him for roughly the same money, unless we have someone better lined up as 4th choice for less. Which would seem pretty unlikely as very good defenders cost £40m plus and they don't want to be 4th choice.
This is shaping up to be about as good a window we've had since Peps first revolutionOne step forward, two steps backwards. This transfer window doesn't look good.
couldn't disagree more, as an out and out defender he's the best we have, positionally excellent, exellent in the air, knows when to tackle, knows when to stand off (laporte could learn a lot from him in that respect).
I'll concede he's not the most comfortable of our back 4 on the ball, nor the most creative of passers, but those are abilities low on the list of a centre half.........usually
Pep will probably give Barca £50m to bring Eric Garcia back to the club as a replacement
I suppose Reece James is no longer on the cards?£42m I think it was in the end.
We will be getting a premium for a player who wants to leave because he wants to go to the World Cup.
Can't hold it against the lad and, thankfully, City are not the type of operator to make life difficult for anyone who comes with a price which meets our demands.
I leave the scouting to City, must be loads of names they have to hand at a decent price.
Was he ever?I suppose Reece James is no longer on the cards?
Are you seeing something the rest of us aren’t? Two steps backwards? Either you are on the wrong club’s forum or you will never be happy. One step forward, two steps backwards. This transfer window doesn't look good.

In very simple terms you'll struggle to keep Holland's first choice centre back as a fourth choice defender.
Yeah, fair enough. For some reason I had an image of him next to Van Dijk but in my defence I rarely watch international friendlies and in major comps I'm pretty pissed the whole time.Eh? Nathan Aké has never been The Netherlands first choice CB.
He's on the verge of not being in the squad, that's supposedly one of the motivations for him leaving.
think we're going to have to agree to disagree here, Walker isn't comfortable on the ball either, yet he has other qualities which make him indispensable, I see Ake in a similar vein. We become too one dimensional with 4 players at the back with similar attributesExactly, our team exposes defenders who aren't comfortable on the ball.
City are in the driving seat here, Chelsea need to pay the £50m otherwise they need look elsewhere.
Why is it illogical. We'll do it if we think we need to. Nothing illogical there, just common sense.i hope Mbete or someone from Academy/CFG clubs gets the place...to even spend £30m+ X for a 4th choice CB is illogical/extravagant
Fuck em, they are a rival, let em have Ronaldo rather than Raheem, there’ll regret that oneChelsea are seemingly also quite serious about Raphinha and Ronaldo.
It's hard to see them buying those two and Sterling, so maybe they are leveraging the fact it's our last chance to get a fee for Sterling to lower the total package.
